You can stuff them and just set them out as decorations, or stuff them with some nice potpourri to add a nice scent to your room.
When open flat, they will measure:
Small: 5 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches
Medium: 7 3/4 x 9 1/2 inches
Large: 9 1/2 x 12 1/4 inches
I've given you very easy instructions and illustrations to hand applique the pieces, as well as completely assemble the bags. You will be amazed at how quickly these bags can be stitched together!
I've made my patterns very easy to read and understand. I give you a complete list of everything you will need to complete the project. I've broken everything down into step by step instructions and have included LOTS of full color photos and illustrations.
Fabric (100% cotton fabric - 44/45” wide):
1/4 yard or 1 fat quarter will make 2 small bags, or 2 medium bags
1/3 yard makes 1 large bag

1/8 yard will make at least 3 appliques for the small bag
1/4 yard will make at least 6 appliques for the medium bag
1/4 yard will make at least 4 appliques for the large bag
Small fabric scraps for appliques in various sizes (100% cotton fabric)
1/4” or 3/8” wide ribbon for drawstrings (needed for each bag):
1 yard for small bag
1 1/4 yard for medium bag
1 1/2 yard for large bag
Sewing thread to match bag fabrics
Embroidery floss to match or contrast with applique fabrics
Embellishment Suggestions for Appliques:
Small Bunny - fabric paint or 3 dimensional paint for eyes and nose,
large beads for eyes.
Small Chick - 7 mm mini button for eye, 3-dimensional paint or fabric
paint for beak and feet (I chose the embroidery stitching)
Small Flower - 20 mm or 3/4 inch button for flower center
Medium Bunny - 7 mm button for eye, satin stitching for nose
Medium Chick - 10 mm wiggle eye, fabric paint or 3-dimensional paint for beak and feet. Can also
use fabric for beak if you choose.
Medium Flower - 1 inch button for flower center
Large Bunny - 7 mm button for eye, satin stitches for nose
Large Chick - 10 mm wiggle eye, fabric paint or 3-dimensional paint for feet. The chick’s beak is
actually big enough to make an applique piece from fabric
Large Flower - 1 1/4 inch button for flower center, or make a fabric circle and go around with blanket
The above are just suggestions. You can embellish the appliques with anything you want, or with
whatever you have on hand. Just be sure to look over your applique pieces so that you can choose
what you want and get what you need before beginning your project. There are so many possibilities!
5” or 6” embroidery hoop, scissors, pins, embroidery needle,
paper & pencil, cardstock (for printing applique pattern pieces, optional)
iron & ironing board, sewing machine, measuring tape, cutting mat with
ruler & rotary cutter (optional)
