The Patricia Tunic - Adult Sizes XS (0-2) through 3X (24W-26W)

Description

A much requested Jennifer Paganelli/CarlaC collaboration in sizes XS (0-2) through 3X (24W-26W)!

285 pages and numerous pictures.

*Note: These are downloadable instructions for making a tunic top. Pattern pieces are included. Since it is a download, you will receive this by email and it will also be located in the "My Library" section of your user account immediately after purchase.

Named for Jennifer’s mother, the Patricia Tunic is cool, comfortable, and elegant. It is just as perfect for lounging by the water as it is for running errands or going out for an evening on the town. Wear with cropped white pants, jeans, or even a sweet skirt. With lots of sleeve, length, and finishing options, you can create a range of looks for yourself and your friends. The figure flattering design makes one feel terrific!

Separate straight sleeve and bell sleeve patterns are provided for each size. The bell sleeves have multiple cutting lines to make a range of lengths, and can be finished with a hem or a contrasting facing. The straight sleeve has multiple long cutting lines, and additional cutting lines for short and cap length. The straight sleeve is finished with a hem. The neckline is finished with a facing, which can be made from a contrasting fabric and placed on outside of the garment. It can be made in a range of depths, and sweet ribbon ties or a little button/loop fastener can be added.

Materials:

-Notions - thread, straight pins, fabric marking pencil, ribbon or button (optional).
-Fabric - 3-4 yards, depending on size, style, and options.

This was so easy to put together. The neckline opening is cut a bit to deep for me (had heart surgery and my scars show) so I just added a ribbon tie to the top and it keeps the opening closed. Digging through my stash this evening to find more fabrics to make more!

I have used this pattern many times to make tops as gifts for other women (I think I have made all the sizes by now). The instructions are very simple to follow. I do find the princess seam challenging from time to time to get the two sides looking balanced, but I think it has more to do with the material than the actual pattern. I would recommend the pattern to anyone who is new to sewing - as long as they use a good quality material (not flimsy poly-cotton) for this. I also found the opening at the neckline a little bit too low for my taste and I have modified it to make it higher up (with a shorter facing). The top looked good even with the modifications made to it.

TOTALLY AWESOME! Everything from CarlaC is worth every penny. I have made myself 10 of these tunics for work as a "scrub top" without pockets and they are so attractive. I wear them during the day with pants, capris or shorts and then throw on my scrub pants for work later.

Carla's patterns are always very clear & easy to follow! I made this out of flannel with a pair of Carla's easy fit adult pants for cozy pajamas. :)

Made one for my mom but she decided it wasn't her style. I enjoyed making it but I decided it looks a bit too much like a nurses frock or scrubs when you use all one fabric. Next time I will definitely use some coordinating fabrics.

This was the first thing I've ever made for myself and it was a breeze! This pattern is so simple and fast to put together! As usual, Carla's instructions are crystal clear. There are lots of options for sleeves, and for contrasting fabrics. The combinations are endless! If you're looking for an easy pattern to begin sewing for yourself- look no further!

I love the outcome of this shirt, I don't sew for adults so this was new for me. I have always like the look of these types of shirts. Mine came out nice. I made a minor adjustment to the sleeves but that is the beauty of this pattern its versatile. I wore it out and my friends thought it was store bought... :-) makes me feel good. I got the child pattern today and my 3 girls and I will be matching, I can't wait. thanks for this wonderful pattern...pookie

I made one like this in the 70's except the pattern was full length and called a caftan; I will have to dig that pattern out and shorten it like this.

This is my first women's top and I am glad I chose this lovely pattern. As usual Carla C has such detailed easy to follow instructions. It mentions in the booklet that the pattern runs large and I know now that I will go down a size next time for a more fitted tunic. I am off to get the Sophie tunic now for my daughter! If you are a beginner then don't hesitate to try this one, you will squeal with delight at how easy it comes together.
