“Good instructions and so unique!”

This quick and easy skirt begins with an old pair of pants you might already have around the house. If you don't have any old jeans, you may have become excited about a thrift-store find that will make a lovely skirt. You can make the skirt in any size, as long as the pants fit in the waist. It's ok if they are too short, or too tight in the hips or crotch. Jeans make a fashion-forward and young looking skirt. Other pants may take on a different attitude. Have fun with putting different fabrics together! The finished skirt is only limited by your imagination.

One pair of jeans, pants or capris that fit in the waist. Remember, you don't have to limit yourself to jeans.
Cotton fabric for the triangle panels. For a small child, you only need about 1/2 yard of fabric. For an elementary-school-aged child, you’ll probably want about 3/4 yard. For a teen or adult, you want 1 yard for a skirt that isn’t too full. Get 2 yards if you want a skirt that is more full, or if you want to add details like a belt through the belt loops, or ruffle on the bottom.
Coordinating thread
Yard stick
Optional rick-rack or other trim for the hem
