The Popsicle Top is a simple, loose tank top that is easy to sew, and pairs perfectly with the Sixth Grade Skirt. You can make it reversible for double the looks! With a velcro closure in back, it's easy on and off for little hands. This pattern is also a perfect starter pattern for girls that want to learn to sew for their dolls, or for more experienced seamstresses to make a basic doll wardrobe with lots of options.
Skill level: Easy
This classic but simple top is very easily made from a quarter yard of fabric (quilter's fat quarters work great!) in a woven cotton or other lightweight fabric. Mix and match your fabrics and trims for unlimited design options.
Your instant download file will include full color photos, full sized pattern pieces and directions. Just print and sew! You can find a tutorial for flipping the bodice inside out on my blog: www.ohsewkat.com.
This pattern was specifically designed and tested on 18 inch dolls such as American Girl ®. My dolls have a waist measurement average of 10 1/2 inches. Please measure and test the fit on your own doll as there are many on the market and it may not fit the same on all of them.
The directions were very easy to follow and the added pictures made this top easy to make. I will definitely me making more.
I have made this top several times already. Easy to make with the easy to follow directions. It would easy to make this into a peplum by adding a ruffle at the bottom or even a dress by adding a skirt. My granddaughter's loved them.
I made a couple of tops for my granddaughter's 18" doll. It is an easy top to make and I love the fact that you can make it reversable. Like getting two for one! The directions are very clear with lots of pictures at each step. Easy pattern for a beginner sewer and can be made in an hour or two.
1/4 yard of cotton or other lightweight fabric (choose two main -fabrics for a reversible top, or a main fabric and a lining).
-14 inches of trim, ribbon, or lace (use a trim that shows the same on both sides to make a reversible top)
