Poofypants are comfy, adjustable, practical and adorable britches for little ones. I designed them for my own son after struggling to get store-bought pants over his bulky diapers. Babies and toddlers naturally lounge around with bent “frog legs” and well-padded bums. Poofypants have a roomy front and back rise, and are cut wider across the crotch. This allows for maximum comfort, and also looks super-cute. Poofypants are designed to grow with baby. They have a stretchy elastic waistband and the cuffs allow for lenthening as those legs grow. Best of all, they are reversible, so you get two looks in one. Use fun novelty prints, or go with designer fabrics for a boutique look.

Size increments include:

Poofypants are quick and easy to sew, and make for the perfect baby gift. Pair with a simple appliqued onesie or T-shirt to create a complete outfit that will get worn again and again.

I love this pattern! It is very easy and quick to make. The only change I made is to open the back seam for the casing at the step where the two fabric sides are stitched together, but before turning right side out. I do this because the recommended tight sitches are hard for me to remove once the garment is right side out, and I am afraid to tear the fabric. I've made dozens of these in the last couple days. Hope to have photos when I see my grandson in a few days. Thank you Scientific Seamstress. Another winner!

Excellent! I purchased this pattern this morning around 9am and had my first pair completed by 3pm. I may have spent the most time on cutting and taping the pattern pieces together and picking out the fabrics--the construction was quick and easy. Every step is clearly illustrated and explained thoroughly.

I'm a beginner and I found these instructions the clearest of any i've used, with step by step diagrams and clear worded instructions. I also love the range of sizes provided and the separate patterns per size so they are easy to cut. The pants are absolutely gorgeous!

A very well-written pattern and crystal clear instructions. Plus, the finished garment is totally adorable and an excellent fit! I was lazy when doing the coordinating trim and just used a bit of bias tape!

This is the easiest pattern I ever bought. Very clear instructions, several pictures - easy to follow. I have some experience in sewing but I'm sure any beginner can make these in no time.

2 main fabrics - 1/2 to 3/4 yard each

Trim fabric - 1/8 yard

3/4” wide elastic - 5/8 yard or 1 package.

Large safety pin to draw the elastic through the casing.

Wash-Away Wonder Tape or School Glue Stick - Optional, but very helpful for finishing the hem.

Hand needle for stitching the casing closed

Thread that coordinates with both main pants fabrics.
