The number birthday appliqués are fun and easy to make. The numbers are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 8 and 9. Each number has an inside and outside shape. The appliqué designs are approximately 6” wide by 10” tall (the sizes of the numbers vary slightly). They can be reduced or enlarged to any size. You can appliqué the designs on t-shirts, tote bags, bibs, party hats, etc.

Instructions are given to sew a machine straight stitch around the appliqué designs to finish the edges. Other options would be to sew a machine zig zag or satin stitch around the edges. If you don’t have a sewing machine, you can embroider the blanket stitch by hand around the edges of the appliqué pieces. The appliqués can be made for girls and boys.

-Light to medium weight cotton print fabrics for numbers – one 7” x 11” rectangle for outside shape, one 6” x 10” coordinating rectangle for inside shape

-Iron-on fusible web – one 7” x 11” rectangle for outside shape, one 6” x 10” rectangle for inside shape (Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 Fusible Web by The Warm Company was used for sample appliqués but any fusible web for fabric will work fine)

-Sewing thread – color that coordinates with fabrics
