Does your girly girl love to look pretty, twirl, dance and hang from the monkey bars? Does her school require that she wear something underneath her skirts to cover her panties? Does she refuse to let “looking like a lady” get in the way of having fun? Then she will love this little bloomer skirt! The Monkey Girl Bloomer Skirt is named for my very own, self proclaimed “Monkey Girl”, who loves to do all these things but wants to keep her modesty intact. Since the bloomers are attached at the waistband, there is no extra bulk to cause discomfort, and everything stays covered up! And you will learn my techniques for hiding seams and reducing bulk in hems and waistbands.
You can choose to use just one or two fabrics for a simple look, or use several “Fat Quarters” for a fun jumble of color. Add some rickrack, lace, appliqués or embroidery and you have a beautiful, practical and wearable work of art. This little bloomer skirt can be dressed up or down depending on the fabrics and trims you use.
This pattern includes sizes 6 months-girls size 8.
