The headband & flower are so sweet and easy to make! Instructions are included to make the headband in two widths – 1 1/2” and 2”, along with a three dimensional 4 1/4” flower with six petals. The headband will fit girls of all ages and most women. The headband can be worn with or without the flower – it’s reversible if the flower is not attached. The finished flowers can be attached to headbands, hair clips, hair scrunchies, purses, clothing, etc. The flower pattern can be reduced or enlarged to make different sizes.

Sample headbands and flowers are made from cotton fabrics for every day. Use silk, satin, taffeta, etc. to make headbands for special occasions. Flower petals can all be cut from the same fabric or they can be cut from two different fabrics for an interesting look (see samples). Acrylic or wool felt can be used to back flowers. Felt is fused to the wrong side of the fabric. Then the petal shapes are cut out and stitched around the edges.

This five page PDF e-pattern includes full size patterns, a materials list, instructions written in English, and step-by-step photographs.

Fabric – one 3 1/2” x 20” rectangle for front & one 3 1/2” x 20” rectangle for back
Lightweight fusible interfacing (woven or nonwoven) – one 3 1/2” x 20” rectangle
1/4” to 1/2” Elastic – one 5” piece
Sewing Thread

Fabric – if same fabric is used for all petals, you will need one 5” x 8 1/4” rectangle (see flower above on right).
If two fabrics are used, you will need one 2 3/4” x 8 1/4” rectangle cut from two different fabrics (see
flower above on left).
Felt (acrylic or wool) – same amount as fabric – color that coordinates with fabric (acrylic felt was used for samples)
Iron-on fusible web – same amount as fabric (sample flowers were made with Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 Fusible
Web by The Warm Company but any fusible web for fabric will work fine)
Sewing thread – contrasting or coordinating depending upon whether you want stitching to stand out from
fabric or blend. TIP: Use a strong heavy thread like quilting thread, perle cotton or several strands of
embroidery floss for sewing button and assembling flower shapes by hand.
Embellishment – 3/4” Button or pompom
