Large or Small Birds
3” to 5” squares of assorted cotton
fabrics OR two to three fat quarters (18”
x 22”) - will make several birds
Two small black beads for eyes approx.
1/8” diameter
3” X 5” of no-sew paper backed or
regular fusible web
Small amount of polyester stuffing
Matching thread
Addition materials also needed for
the following birds:
Large bird with legs:
18” of 22 gauge brown floral cloth stem
wire or any 22 gauge wire for bird legs
(this is enough wire for one bird)
Small or large hanging bird:
# 5 Perle Cotton thread for hanging
Small bird on clothes pin:
2” long craft clothes pins
Glue gun with high melt glue sticks
Pincushion
12” x 12” of cotton fabric OR one fat
quarter for upper pincushion
12” x 12” of cotton fabric OR one
fat quarter in a contrasting fabric for
lower pincushion
12” of coordinating single fold ½”
wide bias tape
Heavy duty thread
Two 3/4” diameter buttons for top and
bottom of pincushion
2-3 oz. of plastic pellets for weighting
pincushion
Small amount of polyester stuffing
Optional:
long doll maker’s needle for sewing on
pincushion buttons or bird eyes
needle nose pliers and wire cutters for
making bird legs
Point turner or small crochet hook
