I love to combine appliqué and lots of prints in my creations so I came up with this sweet dress I’ve named the Grace Ruffle Dress. The pattern has 5 variations with varying amounts of ruffles. Four of the variations can be the perfect canvas for applique or some of the beautiful large scale prints that are available. The dress has elastic in back for a flexible fit. The straps thread through buttonholes in the bodice back to tie just above the sash bow.
I’ve been sewing for 30+ years and have enjoyed trying many new techniques along the way. I wrote this eBook for most levels of sewers, from confident beginner to advanced.
The e-book includes:
* 5 variations of the basic skirt
* 29 pages of instructions to make skirts in sizes 18M to 10
* 85 color photos and illustrations
* Printable pattern pages
*Note: These are downloadable instructions and pattern for making an item. Since it is a download, a window will open to download and when you are signed into your user account at the time of purchase, it will also be located in the "My Library" section of your user account immediately after purchase.
Fabric:
* Woven 'quilters' cotton or similar weight: View A needs a total of 1 1/4 - 3 yards depending on the dress size. That amount increases depending on the view and number of prints used.
Notions:
* Thread
* 3/8" or 1/2" elastic

Great pattern with lots of options! It's a good dress for adding applique. I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner, but an intermediate or adventurous advanced beginner could probably tackle it.
jackson, kristen - April 5th, 2013
Lots of beautiful options. I was a little scared to do this one because I thought it was going to be difficult. After finally trying it I was pleasantly suprised. The directions were very easy to read and understand. I loved how the dress turned out and look forward to making another.

Smith, Jill - February 3rd, 2013
This pattern is easy to use, the sizing was perfect and I will be using it again soon. I made the version with side ruffles only, and didn't have a problem with the balance of the skirt.
haynes, jessica - January 30th, 2013

Swanson, Christine - January 3rd, 2013

Willits, Nanci - December 23rd, 2012
I combined this skirt with the bodice of the Lauren Dress, another of Funktional Threads great patterns. It went together easily, and the combination of both dress styles was exactly what I was looking for when I made my DD's Christmas dress. The directions are easily understandable, and the illustrations are very helpful for even the most novice.

As always, Lisa's pattern is terrific! Clear, detailed instructions, and lots of options to play with!
Camlott, Chevelle - July 23rd, 2012
I love this pattern. Very versitile and generally easy to understand. I am very new to sewing and self taught. I was able to make this dress with some patience. If I didn't quite understand the pattern instructions I would read it a couple more times and figured it out. It has also helped me understand how to piece some things together which have allowed me to make some of my own creations and patterns using some of the methodology. My daughters pink and white polka dot dress for disney world was a hit with her and everytime she wears it out, even if only for a minute I have many people inquire about getting one. Highly recommend this pattern.
Tumey, Mayme - July 21st, 2012
Love this pattern! Beautiful dress with lots of styling options. Super easy directions!!!
Carter, Crystal - July 18th, 2012
Very pretty dress when finished! Great instructions and easy to sew up. The only thing that I do not like about this dress is that if the ruffles do no go all the way around the dress it hangs funny unless there is a petti skirt under the dress.
Broach, Kathleen - July 17th, 2012
Love this pattern, so many ways to make this dress. Ideas are endless.
Cates, Stephanie - June 16th, 2012
FABULOUS!
Tavender, Sally - May 29th, 2012
Very pretty dress- love the ruffles! Though I must say that I'd HIGHLY recommend a serger, unless you want to spend a ton of time finishing edges. Also, I'm not a fan of how the bodice back is constructed (I made my own adjustments).
kochmann, cheryl - May 17th, 2012
Where do you find the appliques
Atwater, Jennifer - May 14th, 2012
So versatile and quick to put together. I have done three variations so far, and all receive numerous compliments. The finished product is lightweight, looks terrific with or without a pettiskirt, and allows for oodles of creativity with fabric choice, applique opportunities, and more. The sky is literally the limit with this versatile pattern!
Ward, Chrissy - May 13th, 2012

Gossman, Brandon - May 6th, 2012
Fantastic dress! My daughter loved sitting down with me and picking how many ruffles and where. She felt so important and even told her teacher she helped design her beautiful dress! Came together quickly and easily. Fantastic pattern!
Small, Karan - April 9th, 2012
This versatile pattern delivers much the same look as Feliz by Farbenmix but is easier to construct. Instructions & photos are detailed and clear. I'll be using it for a long time to come & recommend it to others without reservation.

Little Owls House - February 27th, 2012
I really love this dress, and the pattern has so many options to change it up, however, I followed the pattern to a T the first go around and felt there were too many cuts for the dress I was making. I would suggest using this pattern, but, think it through before cutting on how to extend out the pattern and decrease the amount of cuts where you can.
Crumpton, Rosa - February 8th, 2012
This pattern is full of possibilities! Lots of variations and room for your own personalization.

Beautiful dress! This pattern is so versatile with 5 different options for the skirt. The sizing is perfect! I was very impressed with the in-depth instructions. I will definitely be making more of these. My first one I did with 3 sides of ruffles; can't wait to see how the other variations turn out. Thank you!!!
