By popular request...I have written a PDF sewing pattern so that you can create your own casserole carriers.
Directions are modified from the instructions given to me by my aunt Ellie. I've expanded and adapted them, and now YOU can learn to make these wonderful casserole cozies. The 15-page pattern is written in a tutorial style, with PLENTY of clear photos showing each step in the process. You will be able to zoom in on the pictures on your computer, if you want to see details even more clearly. Examples of the photos are shown in this listing. The text includes tips and options. An intermediate level sewist can make one in a matter of 2 - 3 hours, even the first time.
Casserole carriers are wonderful gifts, washable, and easy to store. Friends and family will love them, and you'll create a sensation when you arrive at a party or potluck dinner with your favorite dish tucked inside.
*Note: These are downloadable instructions and pattern for making an item. Since it is a download, a window will open to download and when you are signed into your user account at the time of purchase, it will also be located in the "My Library" section of your user account immediately after purchase.

1/3 yard of a third contrasting (optional) for strap handle and loops

I love the way the handle pulls through the other 2 corners! Very creative! Great pattern!

The instructions were easy to follow and the finished product was the perfect size for transporting pies and casseroles. As an added bonus, the carrier also kept my dishes warm while in transit (I used scrap quilt batt instead of fusible fleece). I would suggest using a walking foot to do the top stitching as the corner and edges could be quite thick.
