Every fairy tale needs a magical setting. Now you can make your own setting with the Fairy Tale Woods Quilt. You start with a background fabric of trees or animals. Then add 13 fairy houses on the front of the quilt, each sewn with a roof, windows and door. Then give your quilt to that special little one and watch her imagination soar.
Fairy Tale Woods Quilt is a whole cloth quilt, which means that you cut the front, back and batting all the same size as the finished quilt. The applique and the quilting are done at the same time. The outer binding of the quilt is the back pink fabric brought to the front and hand stitched all around.
This pattern includes 8 pages of complete easy to follow numbered step by step directions, photos and full size printable patterns. The pattern is written with metric units in parenthesis.
1 yard (.91m) fabric for front of quilt (The fabric on the front is called Wander Woods in the Wee Wander fabric line by Sarah Jane for Michael Miller fabrics)
1 ¼ yard (1.14 m) light pink cotton or brushed cotton (flannel) fabric for the back
1 piece 42 x 36 inches (106 x89 cm) batting that allows for up to 10 inches of open space (I used Warm and Natural cotton batting) for the inside layer
10 or more small pieces of flannel fabric or cotton fabric in different colors for the fairy houses. (Each of the 13 fairy houses needs a 6 x 3 inch (15 x 8 cm) piece for the background and smaller pieces for the details.)
