“Very cute! I actually made one to use for my Kindle Fire Tablet! It was a perfect fit. I thought this was a great, inexpensive pattern and it was easy to create.”
The envelope pouch is very simple to make. The outside of the pouch and the lining are each one piece of fabric – the lining is sewn to the outside fabric before sewing the sides so you don’t have the trouble of sewing in a separate lining. All seams have finished edges. The pouch has two flap variations – one that is a little narrower at the bottom which leaves room for a ribbon or fabric handle to be attached and a second flap design which covers the entire top of the pouch. The pouch can be assembled with four different types of closures – a ribbon loop with button, a horizontal ribbon (the flap slides under the ribbon), a ribbon tie, and a button with buttonhole. The pouch can be made as a flat envelope or with a bottom, making it more dimensional. The size of the finished pouch is 7” tall by 8 1/4” wide.

Medium to heavyweight Cotton fabric – one 11” x 21” rectangle for outside of pouch, one 11” x 21” rectangle for pouch lining, an additional 1/8 yard of fabric is needed if making pouch with fabric handle
TIP: It is recommended to make either the outside of the pouch or the lining from fabric that is a little heavier so pouch will be more sturdy – if you are working with two medium weight fabrics, you may want to fuse lightweight interfacing to the wrong side of the outside fabric to make pouch more sturdy.
Ribbon is optional, depending upon what style pouch you are making – assorted sizes can be used
(measurements and types of ribbon used for sample pouches are given in the instructions)
Buttons are optional depending upon what style pouch you are making – assorted sizes can be used
