Every little girl should have a secret outside place all her own. It should be a big old shade tree with a wide trunk to lean against. The leaves should be thick to cover her with shade. Her secret tree is in a peaceful spot for a picnic and a good book. Elizabeth’s tree quilt brings that haven inside for you to enjoy.
The applique and the quilting are done at the same time. The appliques are sewn with raw edges. These are designed to fray to the sewn edges and give a cozy, folk feel to the quilt. There are no time consuming satin stitches or messy glue paper.
The binding is a shortcut method where the edges are sewn all around and then clipped to fringe.
Every step in this quilt was planned to create the most beautiful quilt possible in the most efficient way possible. There are numbered steps and photographs to guide you. The pattern pieces are full size designed to be printed from standard computer paper.
