Azalea Cloche Hat
Description
Okay...it doesn't get much more fun behind a sewing machine than when whipping up one of these cuties! Not sure whether it is more fun to make or fun to wear...hard call...since it is sure to put up a big smile on your little girl's face and grab some attention anywhere it is worn. Great summer hat since it is made from comfy and cool recycled tees but with many options for fabrics for the ruffles this pattern is adaptable for all the seasons.
As you can see from the photos this pattern is so versatile. Instructions are given for using stretch knits...recycled tees...but with tips and tricks and special notes for using wovens and other materials for a completely different look. Pattern and instructions are included in the PDF for the fun tee shirt flower shown. I also list my source for the fabulous shabby chiffon flowers.
This easy to sew pattern is perfect for a beginner sewist.
All LilyGiggle patterns are computer drafted and are color coded to make them easy to put together and to keep sizes accurate. Each PDF also includes a very detailed tutorial with color photographs and diagrams demonstrating each step of creating the design. The tutorials are written with beginner seamstresses in mind, not using terminology directed only at seasoned sewists but explaining what it means to say things such as "right sides together". My hope is to create PDFs that will take away the frustration of using a traditional big box store pattern and put the fun back into sewing.

Materials
T-shirts in varying colors or recycled woven fabrics & trims in a variety of colors or textures
If using yardage you will need ¼ yd. for base of hat and approx. ¼ yd. of 2 or 3 other colors or fabrics.

Cute and Easy! Love the tip for using Elastic Thread. I had always been afraid of elastic thread with my sewing maching, but your suggestion made it Easy! I'll be using this tip more in the future for sure! Making more of these hats in various sizes for gifts! Great!

Tried to make this hat. Not as easy as it appears. But I will give it another try. It is hard to know how much to stretch the hat when sewing on ruffles. Hard to get the spacing right between ruffles when stretching the hat. I think it is a matter of trial and error and worth giving it another shot. It is a sweet little hat so I'm going to go at it again. Especially now that I have a bunch of t-shirts cut up. :)
