Adorable little skirts and skorts are wardrobe staples for cheerleaders, tennis players, ice skaters, and brainy Ivy Leaguers alike. They are practical and comfortable enough for sports, but still cute and classy for school and socializing.
This skirt/skort design has a semi-fitted yoke that is lightly elasticized in the back. Skort options include shorts or bloomers. The skirt base can be pleated, flouncy, or gathered:
Pleated Skirt/Skort - features full knife pleats that give a look that is classic and refined, yet still fun and "twirly." The pleats are formed using a unique template that gives easy, consistent, perfectly sized pleats. For a cool, sporty look, go with light colors and fabrics. To make a traditional fall or winter kilt, use cozy warm fabrics in rich solids and plaids.
Flouncy Skirt/Skort - has a circular skirt that is perfect for twirling round and round on the ice or the dance floor. It is surprisingly easy to make, and is absolutely perfect for embellishing with applique or embroidery designs. The curved edges can be adorned with fun trims like rick-rack, pom-poms, eyelet, and even fun fur.
Gathered Skirt/Skort - perfect for parties, dances, and holiday gatherings. Ite can be made with one, two, or even three tiers of soft, beautiful ruffles. For formal attire, choose rich satins, sumptuous silks, and shimmery taffetas. For more casual, everyday playwear, go with soft, durable fabrics in fun prints.
This eBook contains detailed instructions and charts so you can make the skirt/skort in the perfect length to get just the look you are after. And, as always, tiny patterns are provided to make matching skirts and skorts for dollies.
Materials:
Notions - thread, straight pins, 3/4" wide elastic for waistband (1/2" for dolly), 1/4" wide elastic for leg openings (Skorts with Bloomers only).
Fabric - 1-3 yards, depending on size, style, and options

Great patterns. I have used the pleated skirt and made it out of blue jean material. Very cute. My daughters favorite skirt to wear on jean Friday's to school. She has to wear uniforms to school, and these skirts a perfect and modest.

endless amounts of skirt possibilities. I made several different ones, and none came out wrong! All looked so professional and they all looked like different patterns, so this pattern is a GREAT investment. Plus, the inlcuded doll pattern means my daughter and her "daughter" can match :)

I made the flouncy skirt version with the attached shorts for my niece. This was her favorite item of clothing to wear for the entire summer, so I am planning to make her another one without the shorts so she can wear it through winter with her tights! Definitely recommend!!

I'm a novice - this was maybe the 4th or 5th thing I've ever sewn and I found this pattern very easy to follow. I made all of my girls the flouncy skirt and made the dolly size as well. They turned out perfectly!

FINALLY, skorts that fit my daughters! The pattern looks long and intimidating, but it is so easy to follow, and it really makes quick work of a project. I have made at least 6 skorts, and I plan to let my daughters try their hands at sewing their own skirts (using this pattern) this summer.
