Description

Note from Author:
"There are so many babies that need these to regulate their body temperatures right after birth. Our 2nd child was not a preemie, but she had a difficult time regulating her body temperature after she was born and a hat was essential for her first couple of days.

This pattern is FREE, but it is for charity. It is my hope that people will knit these hats for their local NICU’s, shelters, hospitals, etc. The easiest way to contact the hospital is to ask for the Preemie or NICU donation coordinator."

These are for average preemies 11-13 inch head circumferences (4-7 pound babies) Information is also given for micro preemie alterations. (1-3 pound preemies).

I'd like to thank those of you who have done this. As a mother that received one for my little guy when he was born I am thankful. Now that he's bigger I plan to pass on the blessing by learning to make them to donate as well. Thank you!

Thank you so much Becky! These hats are sooo adorable. They are featured with a link on www.honoringourangels.blogspot.com as a pattern for charitable giving this holiday season for those that have lost a child. Much love, Monica

Thank you Becky from LullabyLamb for the wonderfully detailed directions for making this adorable little cap! As a nurse who takes can of tiny NICU babies, I can tell you that small personal items like these tiny lovingly made hats make a huge difference! Babies that have difficulty regulating their tempatures and lose most of their body heat through their heads will be comforted snuggled in these caps!

Hello, and thank you for this pattern. I had premature twins last year and they spent a month in the NICU before coming home. Now, I can find some small way to pay the staff there for the time and effort they put in to keeping these children alive and helping them grow strong. Again, thank you.

I've been looking for this pattern for quite some time now, so I could knit and donate these to some charity or hospital.

I belong to a local sewing guild. Our members also knit and crochet. Over the last 3 years, our group of about 15 knitters have made over 500 of these wonderful little hats and donated them to 3 local hospitals and a community shelter. Every time I have a bit of yarn left from a project, I make a little hat. This is a quick, easy project that is like popcorn-bet you can't make just one!

I want to thank you so much for having these free patterns for Preemie hats. When my mom passed away a couple of years ago she has a couple of garbage bags full of odd balls of wool. I hated to throw it out so I held onto it thinking that I would like to make something for charity with it. I had thought about the preemie hats, but I couldn't find a pattern. Now there will be a few more warm heads out there. Thanks
