Score big with a button-up Bowling Shirt! With classic styling and a bit of retro-flair, this shirt is perfect for boys and girls alike. The shirt can be made from a single fabric for a "camp shirt" look, or can be pieced from multiple fabrics for a striped effect. The placket, collar, and sleeves can be made from contrasting fabrics as well, giving unlimited mixing and matching possibilities. The front and back of the shirt are great for personalization with applique or machine embroidery.

The shirt is designed for ease of construction, and can be lined or hemmed. Although it looks like a store-bought shirt, it is put together very differently. The placket is assembled separately from the rest of the shirt, and is attached after the buttonholes are made. This eliminates any worry about "botching the buttonholes" at the end. Each step of the construction process is described in detail and fully illustrated. As in the other volumes of the SewBoutique4Dolly & Me series, this eBook is loaded with tips, tricks, and of course, matching patterns for dollies.

What a FUN pattern. I have made several of these. A couple examples: the main shirt in black CARS 2 with a dark red panel down the front and I embroidered VAROOM inblack thread down the front red panel. Another one with Bugs Bunny print with a grey back upper panel I embroidered "WHATS UP DOC?". Another big hit was for my niece I used a pink bowling print and a solid pink panel across the center back and embroidered "FUTURE BOWLER" across the back. CUTE CUTE CUTE!!!!!!!

I was really sick with a cold and looked everywhere for a suitable shirt to buy but couldn't find one. My husband watched the kids while I whipped it together and even super sick managed to make a fantastic looking shirt for my son to wear to a fancy Tea Party and he LOVES it. He says its super cool! If I could figure out how to post a picture I would it looks fantastic. Foresee many more in my future.

So fun to make, as soon as I finished one, I'd already gone to the store to buy fabric for lots more. Finding cute patterns for my son can be tough and I've always had a hard time with collars in the past. Thanks to Carla's clear descriptions and detailed explanations, I've managed to finally make my boy a shirt with a collar that looks great!
