Fabric Storage Containers - 2 sizes
Description
Instructions are given to make two sizes of storage containers – 6” x 6” x 6” and 8” x 8” x 8”. The containers can be made with or without the handles. The containers are fully lined so they are reversible.
The containers are great for storing small items or to fill and give as a gift. You can easily adjust the pattern measurements to make them any size that you would like.
Duck cloth and home décor fabrics were used for the sample containers. Heavy weight fabrics are recommended so the containers will be sturdy and keep their shape. 7/8” to 1” wide ribbon is used for the handles.
Materials List for 6” Storage Container:
-Heavy weight solid or print fabrics – 1/4 yard fabric for outside of container, 1/4 yard contrasting fabric for lining
-7/8” to 1” Grosgrain ribbon – 1 yard coordinating color
-Sewing thread – coordinating color
Materials List for 8” Storage Container:
Heavy weight solid or print fabrics – 5/8 yard fabric for outside of container, 5/8 -yard contrasting fabric for lining
-7/8” to 1” Grosgrain ribbon – 1 1/4 yards coordinating color
-Sewing thread – coordinating color
OPTIONAL: Materials List for Monkey Appliqué :
-Light to medium weight cotton solid fabrics – 3 1/2” x 4” rectangle for monkey head
(medium brown), 3” x 4” rectangle for monkey face & ears (tan)
-Iron-on fusible web for appliqué – 4” x 7” rectangle
-Buttons with two holes – two 3/8” black & two 5/8” white for monkey eyes
-Sewing thread – black & white
There are eight pages of instructions, one page of patterns and twenty-eight photographs.

Really love precious patterns! This is well written and easy to understand. The container came together very easy, but I was disappointed it wasn't sturdier. Next time I will add layers of stabilizer and think it will work out perfectly!

The pattern is great if you tweak it a bit by adding layers to provide structure. I used batting. Otherwise you need to use something stiff like a heavy canvas. They do go together quickly and I use them to package gifts.

This is a great little pattern, however I have not had a success with it yet. Home dec fabric is listed as an option, but ends up being much too light weight to keep the sides from sagging. I have even tried adding boning to the corner seams but that didn't help either. The sample in the gallery looks like batting was added, and that is a great idea. I would give this pattern 5 stars if it were updated with options for making the sides stiffer.
