Eight Animal Applique Designs
Description
These adorable animal appliqués are fun and easy to make! There are eight designs – a monkey, sheep, frog, puppy, kitty, bunny, bear and piggy. The piggy is 3 3/4” x 4 1/2”. The other seven animals have the same basic body/head shape which is 3 3/4” x 5 1/4” and then the ears/frog eyes are added to that measurement. The designs can be reduced or enlarged to any size. You can appliqué the designs on t-shirts, onesies, tote bags, quilt blocks, bibs, etc.
Instructions are given to sew a machine straight stitch around the appliqué designs. Other options would be to sew a machine zig-zag or satin stitch around the edges. If you don’t have a sewing machine, you can embroider the blanket stitch by hand around the edges of the appliqué pieces. A diagram is included in the instructions to hand embroider French knots for eye dots. Some of the animals share the same pieces – the puppy, monkey and sheep have the same body/head; the monkey and sheep have the same face; the kitty and bunny have the same nose; the puppy and bear have the same nose; the bear and pig have the same muzzle. The bottom edges of the pig and bear have been trimmed to fit the bibs - the actual patterns have the same squared off bottom as the other animals.

Materials
-Light to medium weight cotton print or solid fabrics for appliqué shapes – one 4 1/2” x 7 1/2” rectangle or smaller for each shape
-Double sided iron-on fusible web for fabric – one 4 1/2” x 7 1/2” rectangle or smaller for each shape (Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 Fusible Web by The Warm Company was used for sample appliqués but any fusible web for fabric will work fine)
-Sewing thread (sample appliqués were stitched with black thread).
-Embroidery floss or perle cotton for eye dots (eyes on sample appliqués were stitched with #8 black Perle cotton)
