Bookmark with Initial Applique
Description
This fabric bookmark with appliqued initial is a great beginner project, and gives lots of opportunities to practice sewing straight or on curves. The pattern includes every letter in the alphabet, so you can make the bookmark with any initial, or use the pattern pieces for applique on other projects. Moms and kids can do this project together as a way to build sewing skills and self-esteem at the same time. You can make the bookmark using nothing but scraps, or add an optional metal eyelet with ribbon tassel. This project also makes a quick and easy personalized gift. Plan to make several!

Materials
One scrap of cotton fabric, approximately 7” x 9”
One coordinating scrap of fabric, approximately 4” x 5”
Another coordinating scrap of fabric, approximately 2” x 3” for initial
One scrap of interfacing or stabilizer, approximately 5” x 6”
One metal eyelet (optional)
One 12”-long piece of 1/4” wide ribbon (optional)
Eyelet pliers (optional)
