This is an exciting week for me because I get to reveal a NEW website set to launch this April! To celebrate, you could WIN a
Marie Osmond Quilter’s Companion sewing machine from our friends at Janome! Isn’t that exciting?
You may have guessed it by now - This April we will launch www.YouCanQuiltThis.com! We can’t wait to share with you the projects, tutorials, and patterns brought together by a team of experts and lead designers in the industry.
Plain and simple - I LOVE to quilt. When I was 14 I decided to put together 9×9 inch blocks and made my first “quilt”. (cough, cough…so it wasn’t the most perfect quilt, but I LOVED it!) Soon I was making a quilt for every brother and sister of mine because it was something I loved doing. (Oh, if I could go back and look at those quilts now!)
Shortly after I got married, I found a group of friends that also loved to quilt. Soon we were making quilt wall-hangings for every season of the year. I loved every minute. It was a time to chat with good friends and learn new skills.
Today I look back at quilts that grandparents have made for my children and I cherish every one.
Quilting is a passion for me –it’s a process — and a journey that I enjoy. Years from now I will look back at the quilts I’ve made with certain fabrics, old baby clothing, or other materials that make me smile, and I will be grateful I learned something new and found a creative outlet.
There are MANY ways you can enter to win this machine. Complete any or all of these things and you’ll have that many more chances to win! Each time you complete one of these items, post a comment to our blog because each blog comment = one entry for you!
- Sign up for our new “You Can QUILT This!” Newsletter. It is FREE! Plus, you’re going to receive a free bundle of products just for signing up!
- Tell us why you love quilting or what quilts mean to you. Even if you have never quilted before, tell us something about your experience with a quilt(s) in your life.
- Blog about this contest and the new site. Feel free to take this graphic and share it with your friends. Let them know how they could win the machine, and link back to this contest on our blog. Facebook, Twitter, and other Social Media sites are also great places to share and will each count as an entry.

I signed up for the newsletter! Yay! I can’t wait!
I am new to quilting, but I’m so excited to get started! I love the heart tablerunner from YCMT, and I recently found a crazy nine patch tutorial that I’m excited to start working on.
I’d love to learn the intricate hand-piece work, but I’m going to take one step at a time.
I signed up to receive the newsletter. Can’t wait.
This is so exciting. I’ve always wanted to learn more about quilting, there is just something special about looking at a quilt and seeing the fabrics that help you remember a special moment in your life.
I love sleeping under a great quilt. I’m using ones that other people have made. With your website, I’ll be able to make my own. Please try and appeal to the beginner as well as the expert.
I’m signing up for the newsletter. I enjoy quilting when I can find the time.
I can not wait for this one. I have been collecting fabric but just am not confident
in putting colors together. Yea, You Can Make This my favorite site!
I signed up for the newsletter!
I made my first quilt wall hanging with the make it up as you go along fun. I enjoyed doing it as it was my first quilt. I can’t wait to learn more about it!
I signed up for the newsletter!
I made a crib-sized quilt for my daughter who is now 18. She lives in a different state than I do. I recently found out that she still has that quilt and ’snuggles’ with it when she needs a ‘hug from Mom’ as she puts it. Knowing that I made something with my own hands that is still a very important part of her life, means more to me than any other thing I have ever sewn/quilted!
I signed up for the newsletter and can’t wait to see all the good tips that are in store for us!
I also just signed up for the newsletter. Can’t wait for April!
My grandmother passed along her love and knowledge of quilting to me and one day I hope to pass it along to my daughter. What a GREAT giveaway- thanks.
Quilts are important to me because my mother always quilted! She still does…. She has just recently started quilting blankies for all the grandchildren! Now that she is sick with cancer, its a tradition I would like ot learn and pass onto to my children.
I have been quilting for about 5 years now and finally learned how to free motion quilt. I have made baby quilts for around so many of my friends and now have two little girls of my own who are the proud recipients of doll quilts and they’ll soon have quilts for their beds. It is a passion for me, I feel like it connects me to generations gone by and times long ago. A creative outlet plus a convient way to decorate the way you want to! Gotta love quilting!!!
I am excited about the newsletter! The first hand quilt I quilted was a Christmas quilt. It was very nice to see the pieces come together into one lovely piece. I am looking forward to learning more about quilting techniques. Thanks!!!
I signed up for the newsletter. There is so much I want to learn about quilting. I started last year after inheriting a box of fabric from my mother-in-law that included a small, wall-hanging sized quilt top that I remember her working on as she learned to make the quilt blocks, even though her health wasn’t great. I wanted to learn to quilt so I could finish the quilt and honor her life. Now I just need motivation to keep learning. Thanks for all of the resources you’re making available.
Quilting is great therapy! During a particularly stressful time in my job, I worked on an applique quilt on my 15-minute breaks and at lunch. It kept me from losing my mind (and my temper).
I’m glad you are making a new site. I love the sites and newsletters you have so far.
I love quilting because it allows me to express my creativity with something that is useful. It is also a bond between the generations of my family. I remember going to my grandmother’s quilt guild meetings when I was a child. I would sit on the floor with my grandmother’s box of buttons and sew buttons to fabric. She’d also pack a lunch for us. Whenever I am quilting or sewing buttons I think of her and her delicious tuna fish sandwiches.
I’ve pieced two quilts by hand and can definitely see how machine piecing and machine quilting could increase my production! My grandmother hand quilted my two quilts for me, which as you can imagine makes them priceless to me.
Just last night I had a great conversation with a lady who is a big fan of machine piecing and quilting, and she definitely has me interested. What better way to get started than with a shiny new machine!
I just signed up for the newsletter! So excited about this!
I have one beautiful quilt my grandma made that everyone in my family adores. We (my husband and I) were given it when we got married. My grandma has since passed and we still treasure it. I made my first quilt (just with ties) a few years ago for my MIL and it brought tears to her eyes and chocked up the FIL. That alone made me want to make more. I am now on a mission to make them for all 4 of my children with their help & input into fabrics. How exciting that we will now get a newsletter with tips & tricks too! I can’t wait!
I just signed up for the news letter.
For me, quilts represent love. There’s nothing like the feeling of seeing your children, all snug in quilts that you have made in their beds at night.
I just signed up for the newsletter.
Here’s why I love quilting. I love being able to make something special for someone that they will love and enjoy for years to come. I enjoy the creative process, and like to thing of ways to make it special.
I signed up for the newsletter.
I am new to making quilts but I remember my grandmother making me one when I was young. It was my favorite blanket ever, and I hope to bring that joy to my kids someday soon!
tried to sign up for the newsletter, but there is no link or form anywhere on the page! just graphics
why I love quilting- let me count the ways! in general I just love them for the history there. to think that some of those quilts were made by a farm wife while sitting next to a fire after a long day, the children in bed with their heated brick by their feet and a warm quilt on top of them… love it. or that one might have been made by a group of friends, all with their own lives and chaos, joining together for those brief hours of tranquility (and gossip!) to create something wonderful. like photographs and short stories, quilts are a peek into a life. just enough to give us an idea, a thread of the story so we can imagine it for ourselves and share in another persons journey on earth.
personally, they mean even more. my mother quilts and has made a new quilt for each grandchild. they mean so much to the kids and to me as well. I love walking into her house and seeing her seasonal wall hanging. they look so simple, yet are so complex!
I have not yet created anything but a small lap quilt, but have plans to make a completely white quilt of re-purposed fabrics, much like the quilts of old days. it will be a bed quilt for our bedroom, and an heirloom for our children some day.
I love to curl up in my bed under a quilt when it is cold outside. I have always wanted to learn how and now I have a great way to learn!
I actually don’t know how to really quilt. I’ve made 2 rag quilts, and have followed along on with the one on the blog, but have moved in the last 3 weeks, and haven’t even quilted it yet! I really would love to learn, and gain confidence on how to create beautiful quilts. I am a fabric junkie, and would like to really do something with it all instead of it just sitting and waiting to be used, instead of just felt from time to time!!
I’m so excited to begin reading your newsletters….I just love everything about all the You Can Make This stuff!! Best of luck !!
I just signed up for the newsletter but realized I can’t win as I am in Canada
Kim, you are really on the move! YCMT is really growing and expanding! Good for you!
I’m not a serious quilter by way of making actual quilts, but studying a bit about quilting has really helped me and taught me some news tricks and tips in my own sewing. I sew boutique clothing for girls and one of my more popular items is patchwork twirls. That employs quilting techniques.! I have purchased some quilting feet like the stitch-in-the-ditch foot among others after cruising quilters sites and learning about how helpful they can be. I look forward to learning more via the new site!

My first and only bed size quilt was a special gift for my mom. It used beautiful greens and purples. I gave her matching sheets…It was quite special for me and for her.
I have never quilted before but I have wanted to for years. I actually bought fabric for two quilts years ago but I’ve never committed to the projects. I’m really excited about this addition to the family. THANKS!!
And last but not least, I blogged about it!
http://www.contemporarycaptures.blogspot.com
I have only made a couple of quilts but I love doing it and would love to do more but my sewing machine broke a while back and I have not been able to buy a new one. There is just something special about a home made quit I love.
I signed up for the newsletter, can’t wait!
YAY!! I signed up for the newsletter!! This is exciting, just another avenue to learn more fun things to do!!
Never taken the time to craft more than a dabble here and there until I was laid off last May. I don’t have a degree, only hands on, and unfortunately with these economic times, where everyone is affected, I have had no other recourse to make a bit of extra cash, except by making, creating, & crafting items & selling them.
Never despise humble beginnings I learned. At the moment, I work on a 1950’s model 404 Singer sewing machine. As we all know it sews a straight line and thats pretty much it. Being that I don’t have much experience sewing, this has actually been a fun process……..ups, downs, create, tear apart……and I have learned alot.
My husband has asked me to repair a couple of the old quilts he acquired from his youth and other people. I laughed……are you kidding me?? After a little bit of thought, okay I will try………haven’t yet…..but its coming……..
A friend of mine gave me a quilt recently and it was cool to see all the neat designs in it. The creative side of me, well, lets endeavor. This will be fun……..Hope the Singer can keep singing for a while………
Thank you for allowing me to share……..Happy Creating!!
I added this contest to my Facebook page, YAY!
While growing up, I watched my mom, her sisters and my grandma quilting and sewing and could hardly wait until I was old enough to learn how. Mom hand stitched a beautiful queen sized cathedral window quilt from scraps of our clothing [which she also made] and I admired it outloud many times over the years. When she passed away unexpectedly at 50, she had made arrangements for me to have the quilt which I cherish to this day, almost 25 years later! She made many quilts over the years but this one has the most special meaning to me. I hope to make a cathedral quilt of my own some day.
Quilting is so relaxing to me and I love using up scraps from other projects to make such unique quilted items.
Thanks for the freebies with the newsletter. I can’t wait for this new site, and a new place to sell some quilting patterns I’m working on!
I blogged about the contest:
http://gahome2mom.blogspot.com/2009/03/you-can-make-this-contest.html
I added the You Can Make This button on my blog.
http://gahome2mom.blogspot.com/
I love quilts. I cherish one that my grandmother made for me when I was in high school. Everytime I use it I think of her and the quilting frame in the family room of her house. I can’t wait to see the site.
I’m trying to add the button to my blog (linked through my name) and all I’m getting is text/link that says “You Can Make This! blog” but no image. I am not smarter than HTML. I tried!
I signed up for the quilters newsletter too.
My grandmother used to cover us up with a quilt her mother made when she got married. I now have that quilt and love the colors of quilts. I also love to incorporate quilt patterns into quilts.
I have just started to learn to quilt. Making a quilt for my baby grandson. I have always loved quilts, my great-grandmother had homemade quilts and somehow they just made you feel loved when you were wrapped up in them. And they were so warm and thick. I hope to be able to get good enough at quilting to be able to make one for myself. I think the new quilting site is going to be a big help and know I’m going to really like it. thanks for the opportunity to sign up for the you can quilt this, site.
added the link to my Twitter
I signed up for the newsletter…YAY!!!
I am interesting in learning more about quilting, so this is perfect timing for me!! I am looking forward to seeing what the new site has to offer.
I love to quilt because I enjoy making things and seeing what new patterns I can find and do. I also love giving quilted gifts.
My first 2 kids got handmade quilts from a lovely family friend who is now 93 years old. So she wasn’t able to make quilts for my 2 younger ones. In Sept 2008 I decided to take my first quilting class and fell in love with it all - cutting fabrics, piecing, completing blocks and the entire top, to finishing off with the layering, quilting and binding. After 6 weeks of the class I completed my first quilt. Since then I’ve started making a quilt for my youngest, made a quilt top for a friend using her daughter’s baby clothes, started a Turning 20 project, and sold a completed quilt to someone on etsy that I designed myself! I have a simple sewing machine so this one would be a great help to my new quilting love!
I have never quilted, but ever since my SIL gave me a quilt for my baby boy, I have wanted to learn!
I am just learning to quilt and love it. I have sewn for years, but the handwork to create such a lovely quilt is fulfilling. I gain inspiration from all the other experienced quilters in our quilting group.
I find quilting to be a great relaxer. There are truly no right or wrong ways to quilt and patterns can be made up on the fly if you want. This is the perfect hobby for someone who can’t cut a straight line, but can work a sewing machine
I love the looks on people’s faces when they receive a new quilt as a gift. I’ve made them for my niece, my great nephew, my sister, several friends and their kids, and many for my son (he’s a blanket hog). I cannot wait for the “YouCanQuiltThis” Site to launch!!
I haen’t sewn any quilts myself but I just love them. I have several that have been given to me and my children and they are so inricate and beautiful.
can’t wait for this to launch. Quilting is not only a great hobby but a way of expressing myself and playing with art in away I can tote around with me and wrap myself up in. It’s not just for beds and walls, so you can send a hug out into the world with the people you quilt for or keep them in touch with their past in keepsake quilts
I just signed up for the newsletter and got my free downloads. I think tonight’s project is to find fabrics to use for the patterns!!! Thank you!
I’m so excited about your new newsletter! I really WANT to quilt, but haven’t ever taken the leap :o) After seeing my little man with his satin “lovie”, I realized that I have my very own grown-up lovie, too :o) I have an obsession with cotton quilts! I use one on my bed, and one in the living room when I’m watching tv or snuggling with the kids… I have memories of Sunbonnet Sue quilts made by my great grandmothers, and the old, soft cotton, all crinkled up where it shrunk after washing. I so want to recreate that feel!
Why I love to quilt?
I love to see fabrics come together in a new way to make something that is both useful and beautiful.
I have met such great friends that we get together at least once a month to quilt and to have some girl time.
I just enjoy it!
I have made one quilt myself, but have helped my mom make a couple. I have several that my mom has made for me and I absolutely LOVE cuddling up under one of them to read, sleep, or watch TV. There is nothing like a nice, cozy, warm quilt! =)
I just signed up for your quilting newsletter. I also added your button to my blog and I am about to go blog about this great contest! Now I am not a quilter, but I have ALWAYS wanted to learn. I love doing crafty things in general but quilting always seemed a little daunting to me. But I also cannot remember a time in my life that didn’t involve quilts. It’s funny how they pop up at significant moments isn’t it? I was given a quilt as a baby by a lady at my grandmother’s church that ended up being my special “blankie.” I can remember when my grandmother passed away when I was 20 the only thing I wanted from her house was this ratty old yellow quilt that she used all the time…b/c it still smelled like her, like White Shoulders. When I got married, my husband’s grandmother made us a beautiful quilt as a gift and it was probably my favorite wedding present ever. Now I have a baby and I would like to make a quilt out of some of his old clothes and I was wondering just how I was going to do that. So that is why I would just love to win this contest!
I made my first quilt when I was in college and have done only a few since then…. but really appreciate the time and love that goes into a quilt. I’ve been wanting to spend more of my sewing time on quilting, so this new site will be great inspiration I’m sure!
I am following on Twitter and I RT your post for the contest. Thanks.

This is so exciting! I love quilting for so many reasons. I have been quilting for about 20 years since I was 10. The main reason I love quilting is because it allows you create something that will give comfort & warmth and wrap the recipient with love. There is something about a handmade quilt that makes you feel happy and comfy even when you are sick. Quilts are like a big soft hug from a dear friend ……and it is a really great excuse to buy lots of fabric:)
and button posted on right sidebar!
My husband’s grandmother quilted a LOT, she made beautiful lap quilts for just about everyone in the family. The one she made for me was one of the last ones she made before she passed away 6 years ago. It’s wonderful to have such a beautiful reminder of her.
I signed up for the newsletter, and I have shared this on facebook and twitter both. What a great contest!
My mother is a quilter. I actually designed a quilt on my computer when I was in college and only recently, she finished it! It is beautiful!
Just registered for the newsletter - thank you so much for the gorgeous projects!!! WOW!
Wow - great contest & great idea for a new newsletter! I love the others, and I’m sure I’ll love this one as well. I’ve just begun learning about quilting, and made a doll quilt for my daughter. Can’t wait to see what you’ve got planned for the new site!
I just love quilts! My children and I have received a few of them over the years and I think they are so intricate and beautiful! I signed up for the newsletter and I also put a link and the button on my blog! YAY!!
I just signed up for the newsletter and immediately printed off the springtime table runner. Very cute and great instructions! thanks for the opportunity to win the sewing machine!
I started quilting approximately 15 years ago as a way to keep my hands busy and as a stress reliever. Sewing is very relaxing, your mind is only on what is in front of you, nothing else!
I love to make quilts to give to family as a family heirloom. And now that I am home full time (retired) I make quilts on commission by request from people that ask the 2 local quilt shops in my town. I also sew items by request from clients. I
I am now teaching my 8 year old granddaughter to sew, hopefully to continue the interest in sewing for my family! She loves to learn and I love to teach her!
I have made many baby quilts that I have donated over the years, which is very satisfying! Quilters are known for their giving nature!
I have also taught in my home how to quilt for free. I love the thought that quilting and sewing will continue for generations!
I come from a long line of quilters. My mother made and sold quilts when I was a young girl. She would allow my sister and I to help snip the quilting squares as she sewed them on her sewing machine. She really did’t teach us to quilt though. A very long time ago, I cut and sewed many squares together to form quilt tops. I didn’t know what to do next. I have kept them in storage for a long time. They are special to me because many of the squares are from my girls old dresses and fabric that I used to make their dresses when they were younger. (My two oldest) I am now a grandmother and the heritage of quilting keeps popping into my mind. I want to start out small and maybe make baby quilts because I have 4 grandchildren. Last year, I became a grandmother to two granddaughters. lol
Well, enough babbling… Let’s see what others are chattering about!
This is so cool a youcanmakethis site just for quilting!!! I am always looking for inspiration and new ideas even though I have been quilting for over 20 years. I love quilting; it is such a relaxing & satisfying hobby! Well there are days that things do go wrong, but that turns it into a learning experience. Signed up for the newsletter. Thanks!
Thanks for much for this sewing machine giveaway! I have a few quilts that my mother and grandmother made for me when I was little. I cherish them and would love to give my own children those same memories!
When I was young my Grandmother was the quilter and none of the Grandkids were smart enough to pay attention. Now that Grandma has passed on we all could kick ourselves. I was able to finsh one quilt top that she made and still use it to this day. But now that I’m older I so dearly want to learn the passion my Grandmother tried to insteal in us when we were younger. Actually there are lots of things that Grandma could have taught us that I missed out on. I signed up for the news letter so maybe I can learn a little to have Grandma smile down on me.
Thanks,
Carla Robbins
Wow! This is so exciting for you guys. I’m looking forward to all the great things that will come from the new site. I’ve signed up for the newsletter.
I love to quilt because it has inspired me to see myself as an artist.
I have sewn and painted all my life. I have painted everything in sight and now express my love of color and texture in the quilts I make. They are like a painting to me. I make my quilts to be used. I want the warmth of my love to wrap and enfold my reciepients. I also make wall quilts just for the pleasure of sight as well.
Jean
I just totally finished my first quilt. I have some in varying stages from years past. But, this one was special. I made it for a friend whose husband passed away in a car accident when she was 8 months pregnant (she has 2 other kids as well). Anyway, it was from one of his old shirts. I loved making it and can’t wait to make some more!
Signed up, thank you!
I love quilting, and giving away the quilts I make. People are thrilled to recieve quilts for birthdays, aniversaries, etc. It gives me delight in thrilling someone with a new quilt. I have only kept one, a t-shirt quilt. I have been quilting for 40+ years and will never tire of it. My satisfaction is that I make people happy and that a part of me will live on in those quilts.
I signed up for the newsletter.
Thanks!

Here’s one of my tweets about it!

WOW I am so excited about this new website! I love quilts and just finally got brave enough to start my own! I have had a love (more like obsession) with fabric for awile now and I guess you could say collect them! That is why I love quilts. You can have all of your fav0rite fabrics all in one quilt to enjoy not to mention cozy up with. It’s not like you can just hang out in a pile of all your fabric or your family would look at you like you were insane! Another reason I love quilts in that they are so versatile…..you can do a quilt hanging, a quilted pillow, or table runner….the list goes on and on. Not to mention the history of them…the fact that you are continuing something that woman were doing out of neccessity as far back as the 17oo’s is amazingling nostalgic to say the least.
Some of my earliest memories are of my grandmothers quilting. Both had quilt frames they would hang from the ceiling in the dining room and they had a fabric pulley system, which they could raise for eating and then lower for work on the quilt. Two years ago, my grandmother and I quilted together at my home. She was 86 at the time. It was such a sweet time and just weeks afterward she had a debilitating stroke. I will cherish those memories and the pictures my husband was able to record.
I just signed up for the Quilting newsletter! I am anxiously awaiting for it to start! I am new to machine quilting. I am only familiar to hand quilting. Looking forward to this very much. Thanks!
I have wanted to learn to quilt for the longest time! My grandmother makes beautiful quilts, but her hands have gotten so bad that she can’t do it any more & I would love to carry on the tradition.
Thanks!

I signed up for the newsletter! I’m so excited there is one specifically for quilting now..or soon anyway!
I watched my grandmother quilt when I was a child. She saved every little scrap of fabric and taught me a few things. Now as an adult I love quilting. It’s a way to keep the treasures of the past always with us.
I have made a few simple quilts for beloved babies. I love playing with color and texture and making something really usable. I hope to sew a quilt for my own bed this year.
Signed up for the newsletter.
I started quilting a few years ago.. I have only made a couple of quilts.. I love the memories they create.. They are treasures that last a long time! I am excited about the new website!!
Blogged here:

I am so glad you are starting a quilting site! I LOVE quilts. I have made very few myself, but have always slept under a quilt made by family. My mother-in-law made a quilt for each of my children that they still have and cherish. Now I’m grandma and I would love to make quilts for my grandchildren also. Your “You can make this” site is so inspiring!
I have really loved learning to quilt. I recently made my sister a wedding quilt and have another big quilt (a log cabin in civil war reproduction fabrics) planned for my brother’s wedding quilt. I think quilting has made me braver. One quilting success and I started tackling bigger projects that would have been daunting to me at the start. I try to set aside time every day to work on something, thought it doesn’t always happen. Today my preschool aged daughter and I spent our rainy afternoon making a doll quilt. Both my girls (almost 2 and 4) love fabric too. My four year old told me today that she wants to be a fabric designer when she grows up!

I’ve just signed up for the newsletter and can’t wait to get it. I’m a beginning quilter, and can’t wait for the tips and ideas to start flowing. I’ve always wanted to learn to quilt, because I remember my grandmother making quilts for everyone in the family. She’s 96 now with Alzheimer’s and can’t quilt any longer.

I have always loved quilts, but I was so intimidated by them. I am a self-taught sewer, but I actually recruited help for my first quilt. Yep, been in love ever since! I see fabrics and automatically convert them into quilts in my mind! LOL
I was introduced to the idea of quilting only 5 years ago(about 2 years after moving to the US) when we were making a baby quilt at my first baby shower. Many blankets have passed our house since then, but that first baby quilt is the only one that have stayed. We are using it with our third baby now, it’s heavenly soft, well loved and has all the warmth of our babies stored in it. I am definitely going to save it for my firstborn and hope she will use it with her children as well… I also hope to make such keepsake quilts for my other children so they can have that piece of their childhood carried throughout the years….
I’ve been quilting for about 15 years. Started doing everything by hand and have moved on to rotary cutters, machine piecing and just recently machine quilting! I enjoy hand piecing and quilting but can accomplish so much more now. Looking forward to the new blog!
Yay! I love this site and I’m sure I’ll love YouCanQuiltThis too. I’m new to quilting but love to look over patterns and all the fabrics I could choose from. We have a new baby coming in June (through adoption) and I have been trying to pick what quilt to do for the new baby!
Thanks!
Erin
I am so excited about this new site!! I signed up for the newsletter and can not wait for it to read it. I love quilts!! I think they are great!! I love look at them, tuck my kids in with them at night, and it is my hope to one day make a full size quilt. I have made wall hangings, runners and small quilts. Thanks for all of the wonderful inspiration!
Just blogged about this contest on my website!
I love to create baby quilts. Until my hands got bad- I would hand embroider quilt pieces special for the child it was intended for. Now I am learning how to put blocks together and machine sew them. Baby quilts like this not only serve a function to keep the baby warm but it covers the little one with all the love and good wishes sewn into it. Can’t wait for the new site to be up and running.

I just blogged about this on Myspace
Yay! I’m so excited! I’m fairly new to quilting, but I have always loved the quilts that my mom and grandparents have made for me. It’s like giving away a piece of you.
I just signed up for the new newsletter for the u can quilt site . Oh I’m so excited. I love quilts . I grew up with a mom and grandmotehr who all quilted. My grandmother gave every one of her grandchildren a hand made quilt she had made for their wedding present. I cherish that quilt . I have owned it now for 20 years. I have made several quick patch work quilts in my life. Mostly as a teenager and young adult. I’ve always been wanting to learn to do a real quilt. So I am very enthusiastic about this. Ican’t wait to learn and make me a real quilt that I can proudly display. It would make my grandmother proud I am sure. She died not long after I was married. I always associate sewing and quilting with my grandmother.

I told my friends on Facebook!
My grandmother has actually HAND quilted 2 quilts for me. I do not use them ever, I have them displayed on my quilt rack in my bedroom. My husband keeps asking me why I keep them and don’t use them, but he’ll never understand the emotion and love that was put into making that for me. I hope to eventually pass one down to each of my girls when they move out of the house. **sniff, sniff** I’ve got at least another 16 years though!
I love quilts and quilting. There’s just something magical about snuggling under something made with love.
I signed up for the “you can quilt this” news letter!
I love quilts because they make me think of my grandmother. She has made so many beautiful quilts that they always make me think of her!

I can’t wait to get started on this! I’ve always been overwhelmed in the past because it seems like such a large project. I’d like to start with baby size quilts.
When my dd was a baby, my coworkers cross-stitched a lamb alphabet for us. Its one of my most favorite gifts. It hung on her wall for a couple of years, and now its up in the closet for save keeping.
Debbie S made some really cute rag quilts (yay Debbie!!) that I would love to try…
Can’t wait til April!!
I have just started with quilting and I love the creativeness, the handling of the fabrics and the joy they bring others.
I have made several quilts for my grandchildren and pour lots of love and prayers in each one. It is so fulfilling! I am a learner and continuously love to learn new things.
quilts are a thing that last through generations! I always think of quilts as an hierloom of art! If made with enough love they will pass through many hands for many generations to come. That’s what quilting means to me.
I just added this on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/home.php?filter=app_2309869772

Oh my stars what a lovely giveaway! Quilting has become my new love because I can express myself very easily with the colors and designs I choose. And especially because I choose to quilt without rules. I just enjoy putting the fabrics together, with the many different colors and designs, and go off to my happy place in my own lil world of quilting.

Quilts remind me of my dead grandmother. The last thing she did for my mom was cut out quilt blocks for her. Can’t look at one without thinking of her.

I posted about it!
I am just getting started on quilting. I want to be able to make my daughters something they can treasure forever.
I’ve always been artsy, but in college I fell in love with fabric, when I took some classes on textiles. I just love the colors, designs, and the feel of it. I especially love the history of it and what it says about each society. So it wasn’t too big a step to quilting and sewing.
I started quilting when my daughter was about 6 months old. My Mother-In law quilted and I was intrigued. Unfortunately she lived 8 hours away so I got her help in picking out fabric and a few basic tips and then I just learned by trial and error. Now She laughs that I’m a better quilter than her.
I just signed up for the newsletter, how fun!
I love quilting. It is just so relaxing and fun! I really enjoy picking out a bunch of different fabrics and putting them together to make something great!
But, I would have to say, my favorite thing about quilting is seeing one of my precious girls curled up underneath her favorite quilt. One I lovingly made while pregnant with them!
So great!
quilting to me means Memories, plain and simple. recently me MIL made my daughther a quilt for her 3rd bday and i when she showed it to me yesterday i cried. this quilt will be cherished forever and my daughter and all of us will hold onto the memory that this was made by her grandmother. she is also teaching me now how to quilt and i have made a few pillows to match emmas quilt she is getting for her bday. it was fun, memorable and i will hold onto the memory of making these pillows for her to. so that about says it all for me. the memories mean the most to me when it comes to making or receiving a quilt
I am trying to sign up for the newsletter, but can’t for some reason. I will have to try again later! I can not wait to get it!!!
Quilts are a comfort to me. I snuggle down in my quilt and let the cares of the day pass. They are a warnth that comforts me from stress. They are sort of like a mediation t he let me go right to sleep at night.

A dear friend just passed away. She is a Quilting Guru, Fanatic, and just plain in love with the art of quilting. We talked many times of her helping me with a project I wanted to do for my mom. “There’s always tomorrow ” was the thought with no action. Well Eileen here I go. Wish me luck & guide me. You were always an inspiration in all things!
Blogged about the giveaway
I am very excited about this new site. My daughter and sister are published quilt designers but I always said I just couldn’t understand why you would want to take a perfectly good, beautiful piece of fabric, cut it into little pieces just to sew it back together. However about a year ago I agreed to take a quilt class with a friend because she didn’t want to go alone. I was hooked! I finally “got it”. My dear mother hand quilted 2 queen sized quilts while taking chemo for leukemia. It comforted her as she dealt with the side affects. My youngest daughter was later given one of the quilts. It is her most prized possesion. My mother is gone but the quilt remains as a reminder of her love. I want to leave my grandchildren a little piece of me in the form of a pretty quilt. Thank you for creating this site.
I am new to quilting. Your blog has helped inspire me to pick up this new adventure. My grandmother who is almost 80 years old quilts. She is very good at it. She has led a hard life, and raised 9 children by herself. She is an amazing woman. Between her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, 91 of us, not a single one quilts. I have started to take this up because of her. I know this is something that she has used as an outlet through the years. I want her to see that her legacy will continue!
My blog is http://www.danniellegriffin.blogspot.com I will link this and blog it!

I participated in the quilt-along with Kim and found quilting to be very relaxing…with a beautiful result! I was so proud with each new step completed and found out that it was easier than I had originally thought it would be. I’m so excited about the newest YCMT addition to help me with inspiration and learning something new. Congratulations YCMT!
My experience with quilts…..My grandmother has been making quilts for me since I was little. We got a beuatiful one for our wedding, and she’s continued to make quilts for my babies. Each one of my grandma’s quilts is special to me. They are warm, and stitched with care. She made me one for graduation and told me that when I used it to remember that they (my grandparents) love me. I would love to learn how to do things as amazing as she does, and this machine would be a great start for me. Thank you so much for this giveaway.
Quilting has become a huge part of my life over the past 18 years. I started out making quilts for the little ones in the family, then started making throws for the rest of us. When we moved 2,000 miles from all of our family and friends, quilting provided entree to my new community, introducing me to friends who are every bit as important as the ones I had left behind. Hand quilting provides therapy that calms an overactive mind and gives my hands important work to do. And the sight of all that beautiful fabric just does my heart good.

I love quilts and this is great news! I have lots of quilts on the back burner and hope this will inspire me to begin quilting again!
Whenever my grandparents know I’m making a quilt they always talk about my great-grandmother and her love for quilting. She made quite a few over her lifetime. I grew up with her heavy quilts keeping me warm during the winter. Now when I make my daughter quilts I think about my great-grandma. I feel like I’m carrying on her love for creating and hopefully passing it on to my daughter.
Of course it encourages me to make more when it’s my quilts my two year old daughter prefers. After her last two surgeries I went into the recovery room to find her under one of her special quilts. It’s touching to know they bring her comfort.
Quilts are memories in themselves. From picking the pattern, fabric and the first cut. The stitching, the mistakes (leave some in, it’s fun looking for them again after awhile) and there is nothing like the feel good feeling when it is finished. Then the look on the face of the receiver. It’s something that is never forgotten. quilts give warm fuzzies for a lifetime! Can’t wait for the new ideas to be found here!
I love quilts, my 1st quilt was made for me by my UNCLE, yes I said UNCLE! He was a train engineer, he would cut the peices at night and than durring the waits for turnarounds he would sew them by hand. It is all the same yellow calico fabric but cut into triangles and put together. I still have it today, both of my children were brought home from the hospital in it. It was my sons crib quilt when he was a baby and it is my daughters crib quilt now. When she outgrows it, it will be put away for their children. I make some quilts for my mom’s teddybear collection and I am making one for my daughters doll. I have never made a full size quilt because I sew by hand (my sewing machine died and no money to replace it) But I also love the challange of making the mini quilts!
I am very excited to check out this new site. I love quilting, i am sort of self taught so good tips and help would be great.
I signed up for the newsletter and am looking forward to it!
Quilts allow me to surround myself (quite literally) with the love of my mother and grandmother now they are gone. They pieced quilts together from old dresses, shirts, etc. that have special memories for us. Quilting is important to me now as I spend time with my children- building memories with them. My great-grandmother made me a quilt top for my wedding, but died before she finished. I look forward to finishing the quilt with my daughter in time for her wedding. Quilting is a great tradition of love and fellowship.
I’ve had your button on my blog for a while… do I need a special one?
This has now been twittered! (hopscotchsquare)
Although I haven’t done much of it myself yet, quilting is very special to me. My Grandmother quilts, my Mom quilts, and many of my special aunties also quilt - it’s definitely a thing in our family! I have a very special quilt that my Mom pieced and put together and my Grandmother hand-quilted. I have recently started a baby quilt and am loving it! I look forward to learning more about quilting and I could DEFINITELY use a new machine!

I am new to quilting; when my niece and her husband announced that they were expecting I had to make them one. It was so fun!

I admire quilters - my Mom and my DH’s grandmother both are/were consummate quilters. My Mom taught quilt classes for years and years. They provided me with my most treasured decorating pieces in my house. Both gave me a hand quilted full size quilt. One hangs in my living room one hangs in my family room. I bought furniture and decor to go with each one. I treasure both of them.
I love to see the quilts other people have done! I enjoy piecing the quilts but not the quilting - so the few I have done myself - 4 patch, rail fence, and log cabin I keep and enjoy!
quilting is a way for me to create with fabric without worrying about what it will look like on me…
I love making quilts because a quilt is warm and comforting, made with love, and will be treasured forever.

In February I just finished my first quilt, it was for my daughter’s 4th birthday. I loved it! I found it so relaxing to work on after the girls were in bed and it was nice to have something challenging to work out this SAHM brain.
Wow, this is going to be a great new site and newsletter! Thank you for the give-away and I would love to be the lucky winner because I admire the handiwork of quilters and would like to continue to learn more about sewing to make some of the beautiful quilt patterns that are available! It’s also exciting to see the art of quilting grow by more leaps and bounds each year because it is such a part of our “fabric” [no pun intended] as a nation. Thank you and good luck to all of us for the give-away!
I have a business that requires me to be creative. It used to be my hobby and has now become work. I started getting together with a group of talented (and patient) ladies who began to teach me about the art of quilting. My projects are not perfect, the seams are not always straight, but I LOVE the process of putting together these geometric pieces of soft-feeling fabrics. I am only now beginning to work on the actual QUILT part of quilting. I tried to machine quilt (with my machine) my husband’s woodsy quilt, but that was too much man-handling(no pun intended), so I am now hand-quilting it with a lap hoop. What a satisfying project this has been. There is my story in a nutshell. I love to quilt because I am creative, there is always something new to learn, I am probably the only one who will know when I make a mistake and these pieces are useful! Doesn’t get any better……..!
I love to quilt when I can find the time. I started back in Junior High Home econ, and have been sewing like a fiend ever since. My son has an unconventional quilt I made for his toddler bed (it has a wide wale cord backing, and I used flannel for the front) it’s very heavy and he loves it. To me, giving a quilt is definitely a labor of love!
I’ve been sewing all my life, but have quilted very little. I signed up for the newsletter and am looking forward to exploring this new world of quilting. I have made many quilt blocks, but have never had the knowledge to put them together into a real bed-sized quilt. Sure could use this machine to help me along. Thanks for the great giveaway!

My Great Grandmother was an amazing quilter- she won the Ohio State fair for quilting. She was truly magnificent! Quilting reminds me of her and I cherish the fact that her passion for sewing has been passed down to my mother and then to me. I’ve only made a handful of quilts but always enjoy making them because… I LOVE FABRIC and I love sewing.
I started helping my mom tie quilts when I was just in grade school. (Maybe sooner?) The first quilt I made was a bowtie quilt for my boyfriend (now husband of 22 years) while we were dating. I got double credit because I used it for a “creative project” in one of my classes! When I was 16, my mom gave me a quilt that was a twin size sunbonnet girls. There were three patterns: holding an umbrella, pouring water out of a watering can onto flowers, and holding a basket of flowers with ribbons. There were 10 of each block with a combination of embroidery and applique. Then she hand quilted it.
She did one for each of my sisters (2) and my sisters-in-law (4). Now she is working on grandkid quilts. One of my 3 kids has his. Some blocks are pieced, some are appliqued. My favorite is one of my Daddy’s shirt pockets attached.

I don’t quilt yet, though I have some books on quilting. My grandmother used to make quilts though and I loved them. I just love that someone put their heart into making something, it gives them so much more meaning than a blanket that’s store bought.
What a great giveaway! I’m just learning to sew but have dreams of making beautiful quilts for my grandchildren someday. I figure I have at least 20 years to learn!
I am so excited about this new site. I just started quilting just over a year ago. I made a baby quilt because it was the right size to learn on. I used Beatrix Potter fabrics in pink and greens. It has sat all this time with no one to give it to until now–new grandbaby coming in July and its a girl!! Can’t wait to give it to her and to make many more quilts.
Oh this is just awesome! I hae two quilts my grandmother made me, one when I was little and one her and I went and bought the fabric and I started to make myself but cut my squares totally wrong and so I gave up and my grandmother told me to bring it to her. So I did.. I drove the 2 hours to see her and she said well kid we don’t have time to fix it all up while your here but while you are lets go get your bindings.. so we did.. well when I graduated from high school she gave me that quilt all finished with OUR initials in teh corner an the year of 1995 in the corner! What i didn’t know was that in only a few short months she would be gone due to pancreatic cancer. I used that quilt for a long while… but as it started to sink in.. I had to SAVE it.. so each time I went to the hospital to have my babies.. it went.. the first few months of their lives it kept us warm… with taht quilt I have wrapped my whole family in my grandmothers love! She was never able to teach me.. but now I can make quilts for my babies to carry on grandmas traditions! Thanks ladies!
I’ve never quilted but have always wanted to learn. I envision making a quilt for my son (and any future children) out of his old clothes. I love the idea of passing something handmade down through the generations. My son also got a handmade quilt when he was born from my co-worker and I envy that she was able to make it. It’s his favorite blankie too!
I’m just starting to quilt on my own, but I’ve been around it for many years. In college while writing for a magazine, I did a story over a quilting festival and one of the women gave me the most perfect quotes about quilting. She said, “If someone gives you a quilt, it’s because they love you.” I think that’s why I love quilting so much; it’s a physical representation of love an sentiment.

When I was an older child, my great-grandmother gave my family a quilt that she made when she was younger. My brother and I called it “the cold blanket”. I don’t know why it was cold to the touch when we would first snuggle under it to watch a movie or read a book, perhaps it was the type of fabric that she used to make it. It was comforting and relaxing due to its heavy feeling–although it wasn’t very thick, which was perfect for us since we lived in South Florida. Needless to say, we fought over who would get to use it because, goodness knows, a tween brother and sister wouldn’t dare snuggle up with the same blanket to watch a movie on family night. That blanket was loved nearly to death. We have repaired it several times over the years, but now it is practically beyond repair. I hope to salvage some of it to make it into a “new” quilt for the next generation. Thank you for the opportunity to share fond memories of my favorite quilt with others.
This is so exciting! I’ve not quilted recently as much as I would like to because I am back in college. The first quilt that I made was when I was engaged to my now husband of almost 16 years and my grandmother helped me make it. Talk about great memories!
I have always loved quilts and taught myself to quilt while I was in college. I have also taught other people to quilt. I am so glad that quilting continues to grow in appeal. Today’s methods are so much easier and faster. Using a rotary cutter to cut strips for piecing is a great stress reliever. And I love that quilts are beautiful AND useful. My favorite part of quilting (besides buying fabric) is binding because then you are almost done and you can soon use the new quilt!

I don’t consider myself a quilter…I am a “quilt top maker”. Although I do quilt small
lap quilts and baby quilts. It takes such precision to make those tiny stitches and I admire anyone with that patience. Machine quilting is nice for some designs, also.
I quilt so something of me will be here forever. My kids (grown and on their own now) cherish every quilt I give them. I have yet to make myself one. I have more fun giving them away.
Quilting means time to myself to be creative, relax and create something special for those I love.
I started quilting 2-3 years ago. I’m self taught from books and quilting shows. I wanted to learn to quilt to give my family members something that can be left to their families to be handed down. I have also made quilts for neighbors and friends.
Just added button to my blog!!!

I have yet to complete a quilt. Actually in all honesty, they scare me! Hopefully the launch of this new site along with the 2 new freebies will entice me to give it a go. My grandmother just gave me a TON of quilting templates, books, batting, the works basically, so there is no better time than NOW for this site to be launched!
I signed up for the newsletter at You Can Quilt This!
Thank You,
Sharon
For me, quilting is about creating history for my adopted children. Quilts were handed down from generation to generation, and, I have hopefully created the 1st link in our family chain and made them quilts representing the countries they were born in. Hopefully they will cherish these quilts made with love, (if not now, when they are older anyway!) and hand them to their children in a hope that the link will create a cirle of love and a memory of the unconditional love children bring to a family.

I have a quilt my grandmother started and my mother finished hanging in my room. It means a lot to have a little piece of both of them. Also, my mom and sister-in-laws love to quilt so it’s fun to “talk quilts” with them.

I love to quilt. I treasure my baby quilts and preschool quilts my grandmother made for me. I hope that quilts I give away will be treasured the same way.

I am just starting to quilt. I have been sewing for a couple of years now, and truly love it! I have asked my mom to help me learn to quilt. I have made quilt tops before but never actually quilted one on my own. This machine would be a dream!!
Quilting is a wonderful way to spend time with my mom, and something I can pass on to my girls. I have lots of old quilts made by my grandmother and great grandmothers from both sides of the family. I can never pass up an old quilt or quilt top at rummage sales or flea market. There’s just so much character and love in them.
I put your button on my blog!
Quilting has been something I’ve always admired, but never had the determination to follow through on. A really good friend of mine is a wonderful quilter and she inspired me to at least give quilting a great try. She made a beautiful baby quilt for my first daughter and it’s just gorgeous. It would be neat to win the machine and start quilting all at the same time!
I always said to my friends “I’m not a quilter.”….then, I made my first quilt…and…I’m addicted. Quilting is so relaxing and even the simplist quilt makes me feel so creative. I want to work on them every day.
I have the greatest memory of a quilt that I embroidered. It took me about three years to get it done. My husband bought me a quilting frame, and me, my mom and my grandmother quilted it all by hand. I will cherish that quilt forever as three generations sat and talked and sewed. I will add your website to my blog and let everyone know about the contest. I would love to have that machine!!!
Tammy
I posted a story about your new site and contest!
I love to make baby quilts to give away. I give them to friends and for charity. I also make quilted purses and bags. Gives me a way to express my creative side.

I have never quilted but I just bought my first pattern and layer cake to make one for my neices graduation. I am really excited to get started!!!

I am very excited over the new newsletter on Quilting.
I think all of us beginning sewers started with straight stitching squares together to assist with learning to sew straight. My first quilt was for one of my dolly’s, and I have since made many craft items and wall hangings as well as clothes, toys, etc.
What a wonderful craft to pass on !
I have been sewing for 49 years, starting at the age of 10. At that time I was cutting out my own creations of Barbie doll clothes and sewing them by hand. At 15 I started a set of hand embroidered quilt blocks for my first quilt. By then I was into sewing my own clothes and mending. I did some quilting later after I married and my children were old enough to be in school. Then I started working. I got back into quilting 3 years ago when I retired from the public work force. My machine is 30 years old and I have put it through lots of stitches. I find quilting relaxing and rewarding. At this point I make all kinds of quilted projects for my home, friends, grandkids and other family members. Soon I will start putting together quilt blocks that my mother-in-law made, but did not get the quilts done before a series of strokes. She passed away last fall and these quilts will be a memorial to her and given to her grandkids for keepsakes. That is what quilting is about; the joy of memories. The joy of creating, giving and receiving. Can’t wait to get the newsletter and I am looking forward to lots of ideas and tips to make quilting even more fun. QUILT ON!!

Thanks again!!!
I love making quilts. They give me pleasure and warmth as I make them and as a gift, they are beautiful and practical. Clothing may be outgrown or wear out but a quilt surrounds the receiver with a cuddly hug for years to come.

I grew up with handmade quilts made by my great-grandmother and great aunts. We used them so most of them are not worthy of being hung on a wall, but they are still beautiful to me. I have just one that is of hanging quality. I found a box of quilt squares started by my great aunts. I knew I would probably never use them so I gave them to the mother of one of my friends who is a master quilter. She turned it into a beautiful quilt which she then gave to my daughter upon her high school graduation. We were so touched, and my daughter understood what a precious gift she’d been given.
I signed up for the newsletter, and am now working on all the other entries…..thanks for the chance…how exciting!!
Blogged about it here:

I have always admired quilts, they’re just beautiful. I love to see how different fabrics can be combined to create something completely new. Can’t wait to see the new website!
I have added your icon to my blog http://nelliesnest.blogspot.com…now off to do more!
I signed up for the quilt newsletter.
I have to admit, I have tons of quilt books, magazines and patterns, but haven’t settled down to do much with the exception of wall hangings, love those…but I think quilting is so great as it is so much a part of you…a part of who you are…and it leaves a part of history for your family to carry on…and its also very rewarding to actually complete one!

I have made a few simple quilt projects and would like to learn more. Quilts are very important to me. I have several from my grandmothers that are very special. One was made for me as a teenager for my twin size bed and I can recognize the fabric that was also used to make clothing for my much younger sister. Quilts connect us to the past and are full of memories.
I just signed up for the newsletter. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for those of us addicted to quilting!
I also linked you to my blog here http://nelliesnest.blogspot.com/2009/03/want-to-win-janome-woowho.html
I have always wanted to learn quilting. Quilts are fabulous pieces of artwork to collect and display!
Hi, I just signed up for the newsletter. It would be soooo sweet to win this. fingers crossed
Whoops, I messed up my gadget post, does not work, so here it is again http://nelliesnest.blogspot.com/
I’m not very great at quilting. I’ve made a couple, but will continue to make quilts and develop my skills. I love creating something from scratch.
I just started to learn to quilt. My grandmother made my daughter and son a handmade quilt when they were born. She did an amazing job!! A quilt is more than just something to keep a person warm. You can see the love, hard work and patience that goes into making one and to give this as a gift to someone else is just the best feeling ever..for the person recieving and the person who made it to give..I want to be able to sew things that my child will cherish forever..and soon can become a topic of conversation..
I’ve always loved quilting. I started 15 ~ 20 years ago with the assistance of my mom. The possibilies are endles! I can’t wait for the new site to be up and running. Thank you!
Can’t wait for the new newsletter. I am a novice at quilting, but it surely is addicting. I am sure this will be a great help. Happy Easter everybody.
I have been quilting for over 20 years. It keeps me sane. I love having a hobby that lets me satisfy my creative urges, lets me make beautiful things and lets me give something so personal to others. I have a big family, 9 grandkids, so there are always quilts to be made to celebrate life. I make 2 Project Linus quilts each month so I can give back. It is so satisfying to think I have given some love and warmth to a child in distress. I love my guild, enjoy sharing with all those women. They give me so much more than quilting inspiration, quilters are the most generous and kind people.
There are more quilts I want to make than I will be able to make in my life, I hope I can keep quilting for many years and can’t imagine life without quilting.
I am fairly new to quilting but have been sewing since I was a small girl. I recently joined a quilting guild with a friend of mine and we are the youngest in the group. I think the ladies in the group are wonderful and love having us girls to teach. I love having them to teach me too! I am almost finished with my first two quilts (one for each of my girls). I have also started a quilt for my husband to take to the firehouse with him. I am excited for the new quilting site and can’t wait to see what they have!!
I blogged about this giveaway.
And I added your button on my blog
I have always wanted to learn more ab out quilting but have not been brave enough to truly try it yet. I can’t wait to see what will be offered on youcanquiltthis!! I know it will be fabulous.
Thanks for the opportunity,

Hi. I just signed up for the newsletter. I’m excited to get to know this new site!
I especially like going to quilt shows — they are like visiting an art museum!
I love quilting because my grandmother loves quilting. She always has a project or two that she is working on. The quilts that she has made for me are some of my greatest treasures and I am excited to pass on that skill to my baby someday.
I signed up to the newsletter because I have sewn for about 45 years and made quilts by hand but now have a lust to learn more about the machine quilting I have done some quilting of accessaries and baby blankets even tote bags as I am a green bag lady that helps the Green bag Lady of Nashville to make and give away green bags. I am excited about learn new ideas in sewing.

Having this site is gonna be suh-weet! Before she died, my grandmother made me a quilt as a HS graduation gift . . . I’m 35 and still love to sleep with that thing! I have 4 daughters and each has her blankie . . . and so does Mama! I think often of the time, skill and love that my grandmother put into my quilt and I’m hoping this site can help me learn how to make quilts that will be as loved as mine is!

I love the art of Quilting….I have yet to finish a project, however, my mother and my husband’s Mother, Grandmother, and Aunt all quilt/quilted, and the pieces that they have created are so beautiful and they all tell a story. It’s an art that needs to be taught so our children and children’s-children will be proud of the things their family have made.
This is a perfect site for me, I just started quilting and I would like to make a quilt for each of my 10 grandchildren, my machine was a gift when I was 12 (almost 50 yrs ago) I have made clothes but never anything like a quilt. The sewing is easy but the color choice and artistic ability is different and a little difficult, hopefully by the 10th quilt I’ll get the hang of it!
I’m very excited about this new site!! My friend passed it on to me and I’m so grateful!
I signed up for the newsletter. I can’t wait. My daughter and I love to quilt together.

I blogged about your site and contest on MY blog…..www.parlierfamily.blogspot.com!!!
I added your button to my blog…..www.parlierfamily.blogspot.com!!!
my sister is really big into quilting and has gotten me into it. i have twin boys who my sister made baby quilts for when they were born. when they were ready for toddler beds i decided i should make them each a quilt by myself. ever sense i’ve been trying to find reasons to quilt. i just love the fabric too!
I have recycled for years and quilting is a wonderful way to recycle fabric from many sources! Right now, I am making a denim shag quilt.. After that, I’m making a denim shag rug. The blog is very inspirational and motivating to get going with more projects! I appreciate easy to understand instructions. It is great to get new ideas for future projects.
The newsletter sounds exciting. I’ll have to send a note to my parents–they both love quilting together.
sooooo excited! I am dying to learn how to quilt!
Signed up for the newsletter…
I would love to learn how to quilt so that I can start a quilt of my dd’s baby clothes. I would also like to make the quilts for our beds (sleeping under my loving work!). I would love to be able to make friends and family quilts. A really neat, useful skill to pass to my dd!!!
I’ve signed up for the awesome Janome! My dream machine! I’ve had a lifelong dream of learning to quilt, and am just now in a position to do exactly that… and I am SO enjoying the journey! I’m also teaching my precious Grand daughter , who is 7 years old, to sew… she’s made a doll quilt so far! Thanks for this opportunity!
Great! Another quilting newsletter…one can never have too many…right? There is so much to learn on the quilting world and I am ready to soak it all up.
I have done many handcrafts, but quilting is by far my favorite and the one that I do most often. I made my first little girl a quilt 30 years ago and haven’t stopped since. I love the internet and all the latest info that I have at my fingertips. And I am looking forward to getting the new “You can Quilt This” newsletter as well!
i love quilts! i love how they can tell a story with no words at all! plus, they are so comfortable. we have one from our wedding that stays on our bed all the time! right now i make mostly clothes, but i am hoping to start quilting using my kids old clothes. i look forward to this website being a great help to get me started! many blessings!
I subscribed to the newsletter!!! YAY!!
I think quilting is an art form that will never go away. I have only made one quilt for my hubby while he was USMC boot camp. It kept me occupied while he was gone for 13 weeks. He loved it!!
I added your button to my blog ! Pick me! Pick ME !!!
I love to quilt. I love to take cute fabrics and make them into something even cuter. I still have the first quilt I ever got from my great grandmother as a baby and one my grandma made for me when I was 8.
I love quilts! It’s all about the memories for me. I loved snuggling down under a nice quilt while visiting my grandmothers. It’s like having a hug. Now I make quilts for my girls. They love them!!
Wow, what a wonderful giveaway!!! I have subscribed for your newsletter.
Quilts have always been a part of my life. From when I was a little girl at my grandmothers cold house and how we would shiver getting in the bed until the quilts warmed us up to watching my other grandmother tack the quilt before it was quilted on a quilt frame in the basement. I love them still today!
I signed up for the newsletter. Am so excited.
I have been to several quilt shops in Utah and Idaho and have never actually “made a quilt”. I have enough fabric that was giving to me free to make at least one quilt and have purchased to different quilts kits during the hops but haven’t gotten any made . . . maybe with this machine?
Quilts have a special meaning for me. I had an old quilt made by my friend’s mom that I took to college with me. There is a picture of me sleeping under the quilt in the yearbook. The first quilt I helped make was at a work meeting in our church. After it was finished they had a drawing and I won it! I was pregnant at the time with my first baby and it became his “blankie.” Now I am back to quilting again and loving it.
I signed up for the newsletter.
I can’t wait to see the new site. I just took a quilting class and I am still working on my quilt. I have the borders left. I am nervous about the actual quilting part, but I don’t want to have someone else finish it. It just wouldn’t seem like MY quilt if I don’t sew it all. The new site may just be what I need. Thanks.
I have tied several quilts and love doing that. I would love to learn how to hand quilt someday!
Quilts remind me of grandma’s love. I have never made one but, oh, how I want to. Maybe this new site will teach me how. Thank you for such a great shot at that wonderful giveaway.
I’ve been a garment sewer since I was 14 years old, making lots of clothes for myself and, later, my children.
But at t time in my life when I was struggling emotionally, I stumbled into a quilt shop and discovered both a new set of dear friends and a wonderful new way to enjoy sewing.
I’ve made small quilts, pillows, wall hangings, baby quilts, table runners and placemats, and am just beginning my first queen size quilt.
I LOVE QUILTING …………………. AND THE PEOPLE WHO QUILT!
I posted a bog about it on my site
I treasure the quilts that I have that were made by my Grandma and Mom. Grandma did patchwork … Mom did cross-stitch quilt tops and then made quilts for every one of her kids, grandkids, and most of the great-grands.There is so much love in those stitches. I don’t hand quilt, but I have done some machine quilting. And, would I ever love that machine!
I made a post on my blog about your giveaway.
Here it is!!!
And I put it on my side bar!!! I would love to win this so I can give it to my Mom for Mother’s Day.
I absolutely love your other newsletters and can’t wait to see the quilting one. I love to quilt and one of the things I love is taking small pieces of fabric and making them into big pieces and then giving them away. I only have one small lap quilt that I’ve kept for myself (I think I need to work on a few for me now). Thanks for all the great work.

I enjoy quilting because it seems to bring me closer to my family. When I am making a quilt usually it’s for a family member and it brings them so much happiness. Also, my sisters and sisters-in-law help me with the quilt and it’s always fun to work on projects together. It builds family togetherness!
I signed up for the newsletter! I am so excited!!!
I’ve been sewing for 26 years & quilting for the past 7 years. I absolutely love quilting & do much more of that than garment sewing anymore. I have sewn tons of clothes for my kids & doll clothes, home dec, you name it! I would love to win the new Janome quilting machine to be able to take to classes, since my quilting machine weighs about 50 lbs! I love all the great features it has & I know what a workhorse Janome machines are. Thanks for making such an inspiring website, I gleen lots of ideas from it! Keep up the great work!
I just blogged about it!
I blogged about the give-away, and have added your button to my blog.
~Tootles!
I, too, made my first quilt at a very young age. I was just 6 when I used nine 4×4 scraps from my friend’s mom’s sewing basket to make a Barbie quilt! No two squares were the same, and I used a needle and thread to sew them together. I remember using denim, colorful wovens, knits, and even some turquiose fake fur! I wish I still had it!
The new website sounds great! Let me go finish reading about it.
I added your button to my blog.
I’ve signed up for the newsletter. WooHoo!
I am new to quilting — still trying to work on the No Stress quilt project — but I have loved quilts since I was a child! The mix of fabrics and the patterns are always so pretty and I love anything that I can snuggle up with! I really want to try to make 2 quilts — one for each of my children — so that they can have a cherished keepsake from Mommy to them!
I would love to quilt more if I had a better machine. I’ve only made one quilt and that was for my mom. I’ve also made some table runners and wall hangings but those aren’t quilted yet. I love it. It helps me relax and reflect.
I signed up for the newsletter!
Quilting means alot to me because it is a destresser and my way to relax!
You got me hooked on quilting with the scrappy quilt directions you have been giving. I have finished two throw sized quilts and have another ready to quilt. I will be giving these at Christmas to my daughter and daughter in laws. I made them to go with their living rooms.
Now I am starting on the grandchildrens. There are eight of them so I will love reading this newsletter and getting instructions and ideas!
Thanks for teaching an old sewer a new skill.
I can’t wait to read the next letter.

What a great site! I signed up for the newsletter.
I blogged about it and added the button on the side.
Quilting for pleasure skipped two generations in my family. The greatest honor I’ve had has been to quilt some of the tops my great grandmother made. My fingers traced each seam she made. Gives me goosebumps even today thinking about it. Once my husband asked what I was going to do with the quilts I’ve made and am planning on making. I told him, “Any thing I want to do with them!”
I’ve blogged about the site and the giveaway.
I just added your blog button to my blog. And also a link to your site under my favorite blogs. Oh how exciting this all is….I just love the sususpense surrounding the u can make this quilt site. Your new site will be a big hit with young and old alike.

What quilting means to me… it is something special I share with my mother. We love to sneek away to quilt shops, take a day off from work for a quilt show, talk of patterns and fabrics, attend classes together. And now that she has a long-arm quilting machine we are learning a new part of the craft together. Hopefully one day when my daughter is old enough it will be something we can share together also.
I just signed up for the newsletter. I love quilts. Especially ones that have special meaning or special stories behind them. I have a few of those that I display in my home.
Am very excited to see the new quilting website. I have tried a couple of quilts and love tomake baby quilts (they whip up so quick!) but I can really use some help on things like bindings (mine always look uneven or kind of messy!) Anyway - looking forward to seeing what you have in store!
Please let me know how to enter to win the sewing machine.
I blogged it! http://oneretromama.blogspot.com/2009/03/you-can-quilt-thiscom-brand-new-website.html
I am a quilt teacher and love new ideas. Hope your website will have lots.
I just signed up for the newsletter!
Signing up for the newsletter was quick and simple. I am excited about this site because my daughter loves to quilt and I love quilts.
I signed up for the newsletter.
I made my first quilt as a teenager for a project at church. My mom helped me so much that I don’t remember doing it much.
However, I defintely remember the one I made to take to college, a picture quilt with all my favorite people. I LOVE it!
I am looking forward to the YCQT newsletter, i really enjoy the other newsletters i am currently receiving. Quilting means memories to me, I have a quilt from my grandmother that has fabric from my childhood dresses in it, and I have carried on by making my mother a quilt (wool!)with fabric from her parents’ clothing. Now I am ready to design a quilt for my first grandchild - Yippee!!!
I facebooked it!!
Quilting has been a part of my family for many generations. Unfortunately it has been pushed to the wayside in this generation’s busy lifestyle. I have the materials to make quilts for my twin girls (just turned 3) and I’m hoping to get started and get them done so they can enjoy them.
Looking forward to the new site!
I am really excited about the new site!!! I LOVE quilts!! I have made a couple, some of them look great and some not so great. None of them had that fancy stitching. I would love to be able to do that.
I am currently working on a memory quilt. A group of 12 ladies and I are each making 12 blocks of one pattern each to share with each other. It has been so much fun!
The Slice of Summer Quilt is my favorite free pattern. I love quilts because quilting is a big deal in my in-law’s family. We have had Quilting Tea Parties for 50th birthdays, Quilting Bees, Quilting Bridal Showers, etc. I have made only two quilts in my life: one when I went to college that I passed on to my daughter and the other for my grandmother-in-law who is 84. Her quilt is a memory quilt with pictures from the 1920s to present. I think it would be nice to lean more about quilting.
I signed up for the NL. Thanks.

I emailed all my friends and family about the new website. I have also mentioned it on my list and blog.
I’m looking forward to the new quilting newsletter.
I’ve never made a quilt myself, but I did “help” my mother make quilts when I was quite young. She used the scraps left over from making clothes for my three sisters and me. I liked finding the little pieces of my Easter dress or the blouse for my first day of school somewhere in the quilt.
Maybe its time I do something with all the little pieces of fabric I’ve saved for the last 30 years or so.
I just signed up for this newsletter, and I can’t wait! I followed along with the blog/ tutorial on the quilt from YCMT, and I’m excited to learn more. It’s something I’ve always wanted to learn to do, and I was more apt to try it when following along in little baby steps like we did on the blog. I have finished most of it (got a little behind when other projects started calling my name). I’m sure this new website will be just as great as the other ones!
Added the button to my website.
i’ve only made 1 quilt. It’s an I Spy & it’s probably the biggest one anyone
ever made. It’s double sided & I had to make myself stop because I had
not known how many wonderful fabrics there were for such a quilt. The
new quilting newsletter will be greatly interesting.
Oh how fun- i just got done signing up for you newsletter can’t wait for more to come-
Quilting Oh How I need to start- I have all my kiddos favorite outfits, jerseys and fun little sets I had to save and my plan is to one day Quilt for the kids a fun blanket for them- If I won I would share with my sister becasue she has a quilt that needs to be fnished for grad next year- She better get a started
My kiddos are just going into school so I have plenty of time to learn and what a great machine to learn on
I love quilts, even though I have never quelted myself. I can remember growing up and visiting my grandparents and my grandmother had a stack of quilts that she and her sister made. She had one in particular I loved,on one side it was quilted and the other side she had a “furry”type material as the backside. I always loved sleeping under that quilt. When she passed away years ago I inherited it and I treasure it still today. My only regret was in not getting her to teach me to quilt. She passed on that love and the love of sewing to me.
Also new to quilting, although I’ve always wanted to get involved. The high school where I work has a student-run quilt show every year, and those kids never cease to amaze me with their creativity and skill. I only hope to come close to what they’ve accomplished!

Just signed up for the newsletter & cannot wait to share this new site with my SIL! She is an avid quilter & I know she is going to love this site like I love Youcanmakethis & Swak!! I have never created a quilt but I know I will with the help of the new site.
I just signed up for the newletter and I like to quilt so am looking forward to it! I struggle a little with how to machine quilt a large quilt so am looking forward to tutorials.
I tweeted your giveaway! http://twitter.com/jadco123
Another great resource for all who love sewing!!!!!
I have signed up for your newsletter. Thanks for the downloads! They look great!
I just subscribed!
I love quilting because it reminds of my grandmother (who past away when I was 15) and how she taught me how to sew! The love she had for quilting has carried on to me and I will always remember her hand sewing the quilt I have and on one of the squares she stitched her name as she always wrote.
I look at her quilt as part of her legency to me and my children’s children!
Thanks for creating a site for quilters!!!
I have been quilting for many years and it never gets old. I am always learning something new. The resurgence of quilting and all the new designs and designers out there is so exciting. I hope that many new quilters get the bug. That would be wonderful, they bring fresh new insights to us long timers.
I absolutely LOVE quilting! I really enjoy reading civil war historical fiction, which got me started making a civil war reproduction quilt. It brings me back to that time in history. I also enjoy making quilts for family.
I grew up sitting under my grandma’s quilts as she hand quilted them. As I grew older she then taught me how to piece and hand quilt. Now as I quilt I always think of my grandmother. That was a special time that I cherished with her. I teach my children to sew and two have made quilts and desire to do more. It is wonderful to pass on that love of creating but also for the memories that we are making doing it together.
I signed up for the news letter! Can’t wait for it to come!
4 years ago I gave birth to a preemie who was stuck in the nicu for some time. I remember a few days after he was born we walked into the room where the preemies were and on top of his isolete there was this beautiful little quilt, and not knowing I asked the nurse if someone had left it there and she said no it’s for him, it was a project linus quilt, and was his to keep. I had never heard of this at the time and was totally astonished that someone would put so much work into something just for this baby, my baby. It made the little case he was in seem so much homier. He came home in that quilt and still uses it today. It was then that I really fell in love with quilts and have been to this day.
I’ve never made a quilt but hope to soon. I love quilts..my grandmother made them and I used to watch all the time she put into them and remember how warm they were when I was a child. They hold special memories to me and I hope the ones I make someday will mean the same to those I make them for.
I have subscribed to your blog. Thanks so much for this opportunity and good luck on your new site!
I just signed up the newsletter! I can’t wait to get the first issue!
A stack of homemade quilts is about the most comforting thing I can see. A gift of a quilt is like giving a portion of your life. I mean someone put days of their life into making it and it is a permanent record of that portion of life lived. It is priceless!
How cool!!! I love quilting and can’t wait to check out the new website!
When I think of quilting, I think of my mom. She passed away 4 years ago. She made quilts for everyone of her children when we got married. (There are 10 children in our family.) She hand-quilted all of them. She also made baby quilts when each of her 50+ grandchildren were born, each quilt was also hand-quilted. When she died, she had a quilt on for her last grandson. I will cherish the memories of sitting around a quilt, quilting with my Mom and sisters. (Even my brother-in-law helped with their quilt.) We are trying to carry on the tradition in each of our families and we still quilt together, even at family reunions!
Thanks Mom, for sharing your love of quilting with all of us!
I remember as a young girl going to my aunts house and playing under the quilts while my relatives were quilting. Little did I know that from that experience, I would someday follow in their footsteps and become a quilter myself! I love the friendships that I have made through quilting. I have become a better person through those associations. I still have so much to learn about this art and I am looking forward to sharing the love of quilting with others. Congratulations on your successes!
I signed up for your newsletter.
I am the direct descendent of a quilter. I envy her creativeness and would love to learn to quilt with the help of this amazing machine!
I signed up for the newsletter!
My Grandma is the quilter in our family. She made Heather and I a Holly Hobby (sunbonnet Sue) quilt when we were little, and she made me a quilt for my wedding. She’s made each of my babies a quilt when they were born, and we treasure them all. I have only made one quilt, for my parents anniversary. It took a LONG time to sew! I’m not sure they were too crazy about it, because I once saw it on my sister’s floor….
I love to quilt because it takes me away to another place. I am in my own little world when I quilt. It is so relaxing to piece and sew quilts together. I finished two queen size quilts and gave them to my son as presents. Even though he no longer lives at home, he knows that everytime he wraps up in the quilt he is surrounded by my love.
Can’t wait to get this new newsletter!
I have not yet finished any quilts…I have started a quilted tote bag that actually has some piecing to it…but that was a long time ago. I look forward to the newsletter giving me some new ideas and inspiration to finish!
I love to quilt even though I’m new at doing it myself! Can’t wait for the new add to your website on quilting! quilting has been handed down through many generations in my southern rooted family!! Thanks!
I have not actually started quilting yet, but I am going to. I have been a garmet sewer for years and never had any interest in quilting. My grandma who taught me all I know, did it all. she is gone now and I was laying on the quilt she made me the other day and thought about how much I treasure it. Right then I decided that I wanted to make a quilt for my kids. Something to last and treasure. I am excited to learn something new, I hope my finances can take one more hobby!!! Tiffany
Signed up for the newsletter. I love quilting. I’m just a beginner, but I remember in the early fall that I would help my Grandfather quilt. He loved to sew and make all differnet kinds of quilts. He made my baby quilt which I still have and several other quilts that he made. I just love cuddling with them in the winter and remembering all the warm memories of my sister and I helping Pap with his quilts.
Last year a friend of mine who works at a quilt shop asked me if I would be interested in going to a quilt class with her. I crochet and paint and dabble in sewing but had never even contemplated quilting. I said yes expecting it to be one class and done. Boy, was I wrong. I took the class for several weeks and made my daughter a queen size quilt which I quilted by hand taking me a total of ten months. I was hooked!!! I have been making quilt tops ever since and even managed to get two crib quilts, 3 baby quilts,1 twin,1 full, and 2 table runners quilted and I have 4 quilt tops waiting for me to quilt. I even stopped crocheting and painting and have dedicated myself to this new hobby of mine. I am completely and totally hooked.
I started quilting in 1979 and still enjoy it today. A quilt is one of those things that anyone loves to receive and each one is as much or more fun to make than the last.
To answer the problems some may have on how to add the ‘Blog Button’ to your blog page, this is what I did:
From your blog page, select ‘customize’ in your top right hand corner, then click ‘edit’ on any ‘gadget’ you have. When it opens, space down a line or two from that html code and paste the code listed above. Save changes. This blogs link will now be on your blog page.
Hope this helps!
Some are having problems finding the newletter sign up link. It is above and here is another one: http://www.youcanquiltthis.com/
This is exciting to see the new site develop. Quilts to me, bring back a simpler time in life and a overall general warm and fuzzy feeling. Quilts are a way to stay connected with my past, my heritage, my fore mothers (and fathers). Making quilts are a sanity saver and creative outlet for me. There is a true physical change in my brain and emotions when I walk into a quilt store or any place with quilts on display. My sons will attest to the fact that I look like I am posessed. Thank you for giving me a place to admit about my addiction.
Quilting is one of the first ways I learned how to sew. 4×4 blocks…I loved the woman that taught me and I love the value that a quilt holds. Such love and effort goes into each one. I can’t wait for the new site, I have already signed up and am ready to add the info to my blog!
I love all your newsletters! I have made such unexpected friendships with folks that quilt, it is something that brings all the generations together. Whether I am sewing or quilting, the peace it brings in creating and completing a project is the best part.
Quilting is history. Quilting is a way for me to share my love and caring for another person. Every stitch is sewn with so much love. Thanks so very much for this new site!
I subscribed to your newsletter!
I posted your button on my blog at http://fibrofogandmore.blogspot.com/.
I made my first quilt a year ago. My mother has been quilting gorgeous quilts for many years, and I finally succumbed to the fever as well. I’m still very new to it, but I’ve done blocks and applique. I’m currently working on a Crabapple Hill redwork quilt that is going very slowly for me, but I’m going to get it finished by Christmas.
I’m really looking forward to the newsletter.
I tweeted here at http://twitter.com/kennarog.
I have always loved quilts. They are so beautiful and represent so much hard work and love. I have dreamed of making my own, but I am intimidated by the process. I am looking forward to you can quilt this!
Please have crazy quilt articles in this magazine too. I have several quilts that my grandmother made waaaaay back when. I think of her often when I use them. I would like to make my own grandaughters something to remember me by but my problem has been that I have no sewing machine abilities. I am confident that owning such a fine machine as this one would help me considerably. For sure it would give me the incentive to learn machine sewing all over again (not much since 7th grade, lol)
I just subscribed to your newsletter. I am excited to start the tulip project.
I have blogged about your contest and included a link to both the “You Can Make This” and “You Can Quilt This” sites. I am looking forward to starting my next project.
I heard about your contest from my sister, CHristine. She has the graphic and welcomes all to join. I didn’t. I told everyone about the contest, and then told them they were way, way too busy to take time to think about the contest and they should leave it for me.
I made my first quilt about a week ago. My grandmother made quilts for us when we were kids and i love them she had one made for us each yr.I”m new to this so this will be fun for my.I have a new grandbaby and one on the way so it will be good for my.I”m looking for to you can quilt this.I”m really looking forward to the newletter.
I was lucky to have 2 grandmothers who knew how to quilt and I was mesmerized by it! One grandmother pieced the tops for we 3 girls and the other grandmother quilted them. (all by hand of course!). How lucky was I that they had the patience to show me how! We still have them to this day. My first quilt I made was of pieces of clothing of my son’s, mother’s, and grandmother’s. I still have that quilt (all done by hand, just as my grandmothers taught me). When I look at that quilt it is not done as well as the one they did for me, however; it is done with just as much love, for I think anyone who quilts has love in every stitch of each and every quilt he or she makes.
I always wanted to get a sewing machine but never had the chance to. My first quilt experience was my auntie from Utah makes quilt and I just love the colors she use. I also enjoy the feeling of it esp. during Winner when it’s all cold and to have that heavy material on me. Thanks for the chance to win.
I love to see the pattern of the quilt come together and look back at the finished project with a feeling of “I did it”
i signed up for the newsletter!!! i can’t wait! i’ve tried quilting several times but just can’t get the *quilting* part of it down so maybe i can learn how from you guys!
i l0ve handmade quilts! my great grandmother made one for everyone in the family before she passed away and they are all very treasured by their owners now. to have something that someone made and put so much time and love into is like nothing that you can go out to a store and buy!

There are so many things I love about quilting and sewing things. Not only do I love making them, I get an even greater joy when I see the look on the persons face that I give it too. Lately I’ve had many offers to be paid for my sewing and quilting but I do it for the shear joy. People just don’t understand that and think they have to give me something in return, but they don’t know that they already have by just seeing the happiness it brings to them and me knowing how much they love and appreciate it. I’ve always thought you become what you surround yourself with so I try to spread some love around, and quilts are full of love that surround you for years to come. I’ve added your button to my side bar and I’ll write a post in the morning, because I’ve up way too late as it is already. I’ve been working diligently on 70 homemade personalized gifts for my quilting friends and time as got away from me, so I’m off to bed to dream of winner this Janome.
I signed up for the newsletter. I am very excited about it! I’ve been quilting for about 18 years, and I have to say its an addiction. I find it relaxing and I enjoy exploring all of the newest techniques and pushing myself creatively. Can’t wait to see whats in the newsletter to inspire me!
I am fairly new to quilting I recently started a tablerunner for a Christmas gift for this year. Have not gotten very far. I am excited about the new site to learn more, I remeber as a child my granny had quilts on every bed. I want to learn all I can, make as many as I can and pass the quilts and knowledge on to my daughters.
My grandmother used to quilt, I have visions of the quilting frame set up in her living room when I visited her farmhouse when I was a child. I have two of the quilts she made which are treasures to me. I have always loved quilts for the beauty they bring to a room. I am just learning to sew and have been amazed at the amount of quilts I am finding on the Internet. While it always seems to intimidate me, I know that one day I will just dig in and probably wonder why I waited so long to try it. I can’t wait to begin receiving your newsletter. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this type of blog. I can hardly wait for the newsletter to start. I have been quilting for nearly 40 years, and still find that there is new information out there that I have never seen before.
Thanks for all .
Go back and read this. Look how many people wrote about their Grandmothers. I hope that your web site will allow our grandchildren to feel that way about the quilts that we will learn to make here.
I am so excited for this new website! I have never made a quilt and have always wanted too. I want to make them for my daughter and grandchildren to have for many generations. I need step by step directions like this website offers. Thank you!
Over 400 comments! How exciting is the new YCMT site? Can’t you see all those that are going to be using it.
The time has come to bring back an old art of quilting and teach those of us that need to learn the basics. Looking forward to seeing all that you bring us.
When my grandmother passed away, my mother gave me what fabrics ,etc. she could find. I received templates cut from cereal boxes, and the like; blocks started that contained grandpa’s pajamas, kids dresses and so forth.
For me, quilting brings me back to time spent with 2 wonderful people and some of the best memories of my life.
i love the looks of this new site, i am a quilter and do alot of community service type quilts to people who need to feel loved, hopefully comfort a sick person, and a new baby.
I love going to the quilt fabric stores — today’s fabrics are sooo beautiful! Years ago, I started a quilt but abandoned it because of the blah traditional colors and patterns. Not true anymore. Looking forward to your new site!
I taught myself to sew almost 13 years ago when my oldest was just a baby and I can’t seem to stop. I have made several quilts through the years. I have made crib quilts for all 4 of my daughters as well as twin size quilts. I am not perfect at it, but I really enjoy it.
NanaT was my Mom and I hope to follow in her footsteps. She was an amazing quilter, self taught. She was not as lucky as we are with our blogs and help. I never had time to quilt when She was here but now I have made the time to learn and oh am I hooked. I Love It! and look forward to leaving behind my Quilting to my Children and my Grandchildren (10). My only Grandaughter lives with us and has asked me to teach her and she is 8 yrs old. You know I am teaching her!! I siged up for the newsletter, April will be here soon. Happy Spring to All
Yeah I love quilting too. My grandma taught me to love quilting and would spend hours with me and my sisters teaching us and making quilts with us.
Yeah - I added your button to my blog. I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to win that sewing machine !!
I posted about the new website on my blog….and I know that my fellow readers are going to love the new website! I have lots of neighbors that are quilters!
I love quilting! I have several quilts made by my grandmother (who unfortunately died at a very young age when I was only five years old) and each one has a story behind it that help me to know more about her since I was never able to spend much time with her in this life. I also remember making my very first quilt with my mother, a cute sunflower pattern for my bedroom. Last year, we were able to continue the tradition by making a quilt together for my sweet baby girl. I would love to win this machine so that I can continue to make memories with my children.
Looking forward to the new site! Took up quilting after collecting antique quilts for many years. Never thought I could quilt, but I can! It is so rewarding.
Yeah - I signed up for the newsletter! Can’t wait to see the projects!!

Quilting has always been close to my heart, although I’ve never actually tried my hand at it, because our local groups make quilts and display them at fairs, then sell them and give all the proceeds to charities. Our church is currently working with another organization to send 12×12 quilt squares so that a large quilt can be made with the proceeds benefiting a children’s hospital.

I put your button on my blog!
I am currently designing a quilt for my daughters. I would like it to reflect their “origin”. I (their mom) am German and their dad (my husband) is Nigerian… and yet there is a third dimension: they are born in UK.
I am yet to decide if my mom will be allowed to make this quilt or if I will embark on the challenge on making my first quilt myself.
Oh, that Marie Osmond Quilter’s Companion sewing machine from our friends at Janome would just be perfect to get me started.
I am just starting my second quilt ever and I really would love a machine like this.
My mom got me interested in quilting when she started making her first one - in her local group.
I just sent an email to my friend Katie to let her know about your new website YouCanQuiltThis. She loves making things.
I love to quilt! I learned to quilt about a year ago - starting with art quilts… and have moved on to bigger and better and pieced.
My last quilt was a wall quilt for a swap and I did a drunkard’s path version - my mother actually accused me of appliqueing the pieces on but nope - pieced it all and it came out so great that I’m planning on doing it again!
Glad to see a You Can Quilt This coming out! Can’t wait to see it!
I also sent an email to my friend Bell. She made a fleece blanket for my first daughter for her first Birthday. My daughter loves it

Woohoo! Just signed up for the newsletter!
I love quilting! Even though I love and use http://www.youcanmakethis.com all the times for patterns to make clothes for my kids, my first love was quilting! I was making quilts for people long before I was making clothes. It’s so relaxing and the end product is so beautiful. And unlike clothes, you don’t outgrow a quilt!
To me, quilting is such an expression from the heart. I just recently started meeting with a few friends to learn to quilt. One woman has been quilting “old school style” for 30 years, the rest of us are newbies. I’ve never really quilted before but I’m such an internet fiend–I’ve studied tips, tricks and methods and picked up some really great concepts. It’s great because our “teacher” is showing us the right way to do things so that we can get a great foundation, and I’m learning where it’s safe to cut corners and pick up a little extra time. My first project is a lap quilt for my kids to use on family movie night–I’m excited! I plan on making a quilt for each of my three girls and am thrilled with the whole new world of homemade gifts that this opens up for me!
I have only made one quilt so far, but it was very special to me. My favorite Uncle had a terminal illness. It was hard for him to lie down flat so he bagan to sleep in his recliner. He told me that he would just throw his bathrobe over himself as a blanket on the recliner. So I decided to make him a lap quilt. I had never made one before so it took me a little while, but it came out great. Uncle Walter was very surprised and touched that I made him that quilt. He told me he cherished it and used it every day. My Uncle passed away a few years later. I decided that I want to make a quilt for each of my children. This site will really help. I am looking forward to it. Thanks
I wrote a blog about the new website and sewing machine giveaway at http://theaveryfam.blogspot.com/
How exciting! I signed up for the news letter.

I ADORE quilts! Have never done but always wanted too!
I have quilts that my grandmothers and great grandmothers have

into one blanket!
Can’t wait to see what the site has to offer! I signed up for the

I grew up under quilting frames! My mom, aunts and grandma were all quilters. It just seemed like a natural progression! I love starting and getting going…I’m really bad at finishing!
I signed up for the newsletter!
I love quilts and quilting because it’s such a gift “of yourself” when you make a quilt for someone. When I was younger and single, my friends and I would make a quilt for each one of us as we got married…now there are quilts all over the country that I have made with others…it’s a beautiful reminder of those you love!
Please enter me in the sewing machine contest…mine is on it’s last leg!
I’ve been quilting for 20 years and it’s something I truly love to do.
This machine would be a wonderful addition to my janome embroidery machine!
I signed up for the newsletter, can’t wait!
I have always loved quilts! Several years ago a friend and I decided to make one. I’ve been addicted ever since. I love making quilts for my family and friends, they make really special gifts! And this year I have finally made bed sized quilts for all the beds in my house, yeyy!
Though I don’t do it often, quilting is one of my favorite things to do. Why? It gives me an outlet to express myself and is (often) a calming activity. I have made a t-shirt quilt, an ice-cream cone applique quilt and some quilted bags/purses. Something about creating just makes me feel great - showing off my creations and getting compliments is icing on the cake!
I added a link on Twitter!
Signed up for the newsletter! I’m really excited about this one!
I am so excited!! I have already blogged about the new site, added the button to my blog and signed up for the newsletter. I can’t wait to get started quilting.
I thought I would share what I think of when I think of quilting and handmade quilts:
Both of my great-grandmothers quilted and I can remember how important their quilts were to everyone when they each passed on. When you stop and think about the love that goes into each quilt you really can’t help thinking of the person that made it and much you loved that person and how much she loved you. So much attention is paid to ensure that each piece is cut just right. So much patience given when embarking on such an intricate project. Each color, each pattern chosen for a reason. When the quilt is done and you look at the detail that was put in by your loved one you know that she loves you. This is what I want to leave behind for my own family.
Can’t wait to get the first edition. Looks like it’s a lot of fun! Thanks.
I signed up for your new newsletter. What fun! Thank you for the projects! I can’t wait to make them. I am also looking forward to the first newsletter as I just started quilting.

What’s not to love about quilting? The fabrics, the patterns, the friends, making, sharing, creating. Quilting = happiness!
I am so excited for this newsletter. I LOVE to quilt! I find it very relaxing, after a long day at work and hours of commuting, to come home and sit at my quilting frame or machine.
